Good WR in norms = better placements on new account?

I have a friend who is new to League and they're doing a lot better than the average new player. They've played I think 9 norms and haven't lost one yet. I've told them a lot about League and mentioned ranked a few times, explains placements etc. They asked if doing good in normals affects placements and I said no. But then again I don't really know for sure. I assumed it didn't since they're two different ques but I know if you dodged in a normal then dodge in a ranked you'll get -10 lp.

yea I'm curious if, if you have a very high normals mmr where the system clearly knows its a smurf and matches you with diamond players if you still start in silver lol

As far as I know, Your first few ranked games always pair you against the current rank that has the most players in it, which is normally Silver 4-3. After the first 3-5 it will adjust based on your performance and w/l.

I figure this because the first games of placement always have a bigger impact than the last 5 and I've 7 years of experience. (haven't played ranked this season.)
