If you don't ban a champ, why doesn't it just automatically count as "none"?

So I was just in champ select and had my series end because I wasn't able to ban my pick. That's nice that my series ends because of a glitch in your client.

It's (intentionally) being used as an AFK check.

If you select "none", you actively decided not to ban a champion.

If you don't select anything, you were not paying attention to the lobby.

If the client (or server) was broken and refused to allow/register your pick, that's an issue which should be addressed.

I had Pyke selected but it wouldn't let me lock it in.

It's (unnecessarily) being used as an AFK check. Since the result is the same if you don't lock in a champion PICK

Fixed it for you ^,^

the ban phase functions better as an afk check, as waiting till a player picks, only to end up not picking a champ, could delay the whole process by a few minutes.

Doesn't the "Accept" button when the queue pops do the exact same thing 30 seconds earlier?

######it does

you'd be surprised at how often people cant manage to keep themselves focused on the game for 30 seconds. As well, though its certainly not common, there are programs that can hit accept for you even if you're afk.

That's not fixed at all. Would you rather a Remake or a Dodge?

multiple afk checks means lower likelihood of wrong masteries

"accept" button is enough for afk check. Not to mention pick phase already works as afk check too. Do we really have to check it 3 times? Seems stupid to me

If a person can't stay on-task for the duration of champion select, I wouldn't really trust them to stay through a game.

champion select - yes, no doubt. Banning phase? Come on. Sometimes I'm not even afk, talking to my friends in discord and get distracted and then in panic banning random champ because you have to ban someone. There's absolutely zero reason for that feature to exist.

I've actually literally put this in a support ticket a good while back, and got a lukewarm disinterested reply instructing me to pitch it on the boards. Lo and behold here someone's already done that.

I wouldnt call it a glitch, I believe they set it up that way. However I agree it should just count as none.

i dont think you understand what a glitch is but yeah i've dodged matches due to this too. they should default to none.

How could I not understand what a glitch is? This happens to a lot of people. It happened to two people yesterday in my ranked ques. It's not something that happens every blue moon. And to lose LP and get a time ban over something that could simply be solved by automatically banning and picking whatever you have selected sounds pretty nice to me.

it doesnt count as none because people would click "ready" and leave for the few moments they think they have to take a bathroom break or grab a drink...

it's a network error. i think they had a server turned off or something the past couple of nights in NA. my ping was 70 instead of the usual 23. it recovered this morning.

It's an early check to make sure you're actually there during champion select. No point in going through the whole process if the dude isn't there and the game is going to end anyways.

Of course glitching sucks...but that's a problem with glitches, not champ select design.

champ select has multiple afk checks to make sure you don't fuck up pregame shit

ever since dynamic queue was implemented a year or so ago, there has been an noticeable lack of "oops wrong runes/masteries"
