Ivern support?

Tuition Fee··1 votes·4,321 views

I was wondering about if Ivern support would be viable now. With the new JG changes, would it be possible for him to be, like, a semi-jungling support who goes and steals a few buffs or something? Has anyone tried this yet, and could they give me their opinion on this?

Ivern/Rengar bot lane. Try it.

This is perfect, since my duo plays tons of Rengar or Yasuo bot :D

He'd have to take smite, and that plus the way his kit works would make lane phase very difficult for his adc. But he might be able to fk over the enemy jungle abit in exchange. Dont imagine it'd be worth though.

he doesn't have to have smite it just makes his passive instant but that can be remedied with the new unsealed spellbook by a bit

While it doesnt have to be instant you have to remember how his counterjungling works, and how long he has to be away from his ADC to secure camps.

And if you leave your adc alone for longer then 25 seconds, they start inting.

The whole point of this strat would be to instantly take the camp/scuttle. Otherwise he'd have to leave lane twice and hope no one had taken his prepped camp or he'd have just wasted health for it and be down twice.

Ive been doing it for awhile and smite works better however they nerfed my strat of getting the jungke item stealing enemy buff get level 2 and go bot and just roam when yiu can to steal jungke but sadly you cant have jungle item and supp item boooo

  • Ivern support is just a downgrade version of Janna.

  • Bringing Ivern bot would require you to force-bring Smite to make your passive worth it, otherwise, it becomes completely useless.

How sad you dont understand your q and how great it is for ganks. Yah your right having a shield thats atronger then jannas and has cc is trash sure thing

BeatzBoyFTW1 votes

Then show me that one game in LCS where the pro-players decided to pick Ivern over Janna support, thanks to your "awesome facts".

I'll wait.

KlydeFrog1 votes

Umm what i told is fact not sure why your trying to argue that its not. Ivern shield has higher base higher ap ratio lower cdr and has cc that is what we call facts. Also since

BeatzBoyFTW1 votes

Not convincing about why pro-players won't bother picking him over Janna. A shield is one thing. His synergy with all of his kits along with his team is another.

KlydeFrog1 votes

Again what i told you is fact. Makes junglers life easier due to iverns q root plus engage. Cait can use bushes for her passive lets not forget daisy

BeatzBoyFTW1 votes

Then it's a really useless facts considering that no one in pro-play does this, or even in public servers. I'd rather called it "Bonus Tips".

KlydeFrog1 votes

Its funny your trying to argue something that you cant disprove? How many times must i write that iverns shield has a stronger base higher ap ratio and lower cd that is fact so i dont really understand what your trying to prove

BeatzBoyFTW1 votes

His shield being one thing. But what does his bush that doesn't provide a ton of team utility and gets countered by a single ward, a single-target root where Morgana does better, & an ult that needs 3 slow AAs for a knock-up even synergize well in any team comp? Especially when he's being placed as a Support.

Janna herself provides a LOT more utility than Ivern does, in terms of heavily disengaging with her Q, catching a fleeing enemy/slowing her pursuers with her W & yet another disengaging & AoE supportive healing ult. Why the fuck should I pick Ivern over all this? Just because his shield has +10% AP ratio & +5 Base Shield Strength higher than Janna's? A bush that forces my ADC to pick Caitlyn because "PaSsIvE dOuBlE sTaCks HuRr"?

What's actually more fascinating is you were also trying to shoo the topic of why pros didn't bother picking him at all over Janna in LCS or even MSI. Let me add something more: Despite your facts, Ivern gains a more pitiful pickrate over Janna, that the Support role doesn't even pop up in Champion.gg.

KlydeFrog1 votes

Again q is a root that has a lower cd tgen jannas w. Also more reliable. And iverns shield has a higher slow then jannas. And her ult has a long cd. Also daisy body blocks and knocks up. Your literally arguing n nothing at this point. Also janna will get banned more and more and more nerfs on her shield. And its still a stronger shield

BeatzBoyFTW1 votes

It feels like you have already told me these exact same arguments from your past 3 comments. I can read Ivern's wiki well enough to not have you repeat at my face. Your comment doesn't even described anything about how it synergize team comps at all. All you said was nothing but "Ivern's better than Janna cz extra cd & bans".

Again, it's ridiculous that you're still ignoring his pickrate in both public & LCS/MSI, but I know things like these won't go through your head since you're an Ivern Support player. That is, if that pick even helps you get out of Silver 5. Think about that for a moment before you blindly defend him again.

KlydeFrog1 votes

Umm q makes anyone go into aa range

BeatzBoyFTW1 votes

So? Morgana's Q does it better with longer snare duration & helps open up to longer gank duration. There's no need for that "go into AA range" passive when majority of meta champion has a gapcloser, including junglers like Skarner & Olaf.

I want to repeat what I said once again:

I can read Ivern's wiki well enough to not have you repeat at my face.

If you can't think of a proper response like what I mentioned above rather than repeating what Ivern's kit does, you can just stay quiet.

Thank you.

I played Ivern a lot with Rengar and Caits and rengar+ Caits. But to be fair Ivern is just to weak (base stats) What i want to say is yeah his q is good but that is where it ends.

His w is a complete faliure of a spell (cait passiv and rengar passiv are fine but its not good) The problem with this is that you force your adc or jungler to play a champ. ( that is not good in this game / the player is not that good on that champ)

Your passiv is way to locked on one job that makes it hard to use

Your e is a nightmare you cant get this shield good, the problem is that it does all jobs but none good. (you e a mele and your shield is to weak to take all the damage / you e a ranged and your slow is usless)

The r is a the cherry on top of the cream, a ultimate should have a big impact its "ULTIMATE" if you play ivern you got your Mate and its yeah like a bad version of tibbas. (this Ult provieds really nothing in the first 2-2,5 sec of a fight and yeah that are the most important sec`s of a fight in botlane since the low base stats of a adc)

His base stats are weak like a lulu but lulus job is not to be in the Frontline so what is Iverns roll as a Supp ?

To be a enchanter nope he has just one spell for that roll. Is he a Mage nope he has a spell like it but not the right damage nubbers. And he is not a Tank so what do you pick him for?

Thats right as 2nd jungler, that is where he is good, but then you shouldn`t play him on botlane. Play him in the top against tanks that lack wave clear.

and for you littel klyde dont be like that, i can see that you are mentally challenged so just get some help thy!

Ivern support fails because daisy is just too unreliable, His shield is good his cc is good especially for adc that could use some int, and his bush while nerfed is still alright at vision aspects, it's really daisy that fails him as a support.

KlydeFrog1 votes

Umm his shield is stronger then janna. Higher base higher ap ratio lower cdr.

JarodDempsey1 votes

yeah but it's only active for 2 seconds which significantly lowers it's defensive effectiveness compared to hers. Also with 45% cdr janna has almost a 100% potential shield uptime, ivern only approaches 50%. Their shield differences are not the reason why ivern is not able to support well compared to janna. His main kit is alright for a utility support but when shit hits the fan all he can do is summon daisy and then wait like 3 seconds for her to get a knockup, and thats if shes targeting the correct person, and if the priority target switches in those 3 seconds then you have to wait another 3 for her to stack more flower power, she's just generally bad in most teamfights because her utility is much too slow.

KlydeFrog1 votes

your talking if it last the whole time being untouched. also the cc slow it gives is the trade off dont forget that and so what daisy can tank like a boss also ivern can root off q and yes that is perfect for ganking just saying. also ill do one better 40% cdr daisy has no cd if you want to play the uptime game about things lasting full duration

JarodDempsey1 votes

I never said his shield is bad, it trades defensive effectiveness for offensive damage and utility which is fine.

Ivern has tools for ganking but this post is regarding his viability as a support, daisy is almost useless as a support ability because enemies have no reason to switch their target from your adc to her. Shes really only useful in prolonged teamfights where she may get her cc on multiple people or when taking towers where she can absorb some damage. The 3 seconds it takes for her knockup to happen makes it extremely ineffective at counter engaging in bot lane and requires significant combo work to be effective even on offence. Would be nice if maybe he could cast daisy on an ally and some of the damage theyd recieve is instead transferred to her, then he might be a viable support.

KlydeFrog1 votes

Again your basically saying janna can ifinite have shields up which she cant unless it lasts the whole time. And his q us perfect for helping the jungler gank becauae instant gap closer. Also daisy is fine i cant help it you dont use her appropriately. Its body block that does pretty decent damage

KlydeFrog1 votes

Again ive been doing this for a awhile . max shield first then max q .
