Armor pen

What are your guy's opinion on armor pen? i play tanky champions and i like to play them but i feel like i cant tank very well because of armor pen. Carries have it for late game i get it but when someone rushes lw that have a dmg boost because 1 person is building armor then it makes it hard to tank them and they still are able to kill you with ease. They have brute,yomu,last whisper and black cleaver plus whatever is in runes. I feel like thats too much. armor pen is just way too strong but thats just me. this is jsut my opinion.

Heh, yeah, it does feel really awkward when you roll in with a Rammus that has some 300-400 armor with Thornmail and Defensive Ball Curl it just doesn't seem to matter...

Just one quick question; when you say "tanking", are you referring to simply taking damage, or the idea that a tank is not supposed to die?

tanking as in, tanking the dmg, zoning forcing ults, stuff like that.

In that case, I don't feel like Last Whisper or Void Staff really negate a tank's capacity to do its job. It makes them possible to kill--something Riot learned is necessary back in Season 1--but they will still draw focus, zone enemies, and force them to use abilities/ultimates.

It's possible that they are currently stronger than necessary, but I don't have any problem with them personally. They exist, so I plan to eventually not survive fights as long.

On tanky champ, you means toplaner, is not good in runes, but is good as item, if you but black clever and last whisper you destroy everything(example aatrox). You pick armor pen red runes only if you play zed or riven. He also good on junlger, because jungler monsters have like 12, you will deal more damage with armor pen so(hybrid for zac, maokai, and arm pen for vi, jarven, etc.). I type quickly, I have no time xD.

i don't mean just top lane talking about tanky junglers too, like naut,malphite stuff like that.
