Why does the community hate wards?

I use to main support, secondary jungle.

Recently I picked ADC up, I've always loved Ashe and Sivir is pretty fun too. But my connection use to be garbage so I played champions who didn't have to last hit much. But now that I am getting into Riven top, Ashe and Sivir bot. I realized that I am almost always the most wards placed. I will have placed 20-35 wards in a game. Meanwhile our support has placed like... 13 and the rest of the team 9 or less. They are absolutely free nowadays! They prevent you from dying, and imo are more important top or mid than even bot lane. Where bot lane is a farm lane that can trade, top and mid are lanes with non-stop dueling tactics. But like my most recent game as Riven(just a little brag, 12/2/5 ;D) I placed 21 wards, next closest was 18, the rest were all under 10. I didn't even buy pinks this game because I was trying to edge out a money advantage. And yet placed so many more wards.

Does this community have something against seeing the map, objectives and enemies? When I mained support, mostly Leona and Soraka, I would place 30-50 wards in some games. Including a good number of pinks. Back when you had to buy wards and there was no limit on placement I had a Taric game we won, and my team credited it to the fact that I placed 62 wards XD.

WHY DO PEOPLE HATE WARDS?

P.s. Wards count towards your S ranks as well, as does 'pinks bought'.

While for the most part you are right keep in mind laners who buy red trinket as it doesn't count towards wards placed. So anyone with red trink and no sightstone will have a very low ward score.

I am lvl7 on Malz and lvl5 on Lux mid. Also lvl6 on Shyvana and lvl4 on Sej. Trust me, I know sweeper. They aren't buying sweepers, and don't have a high 'wards killed' count anyway. Even the supports tend to have 5-15 less wards than me when I am a carry. Even if they buy a sightstone.

Yeah... I know... I main support and get pissed at the lack of warding I see.

I just try to remain hopeful of the community. RIP wards. You will be as Yorick, loved by few, forgotten by many.

Depends on Elo I guess, I main Support in Silver 5 and I found that the more wards I place the more my Teammates die.

Sometimes active support is more effective than vision.

Well it all depends where u are. Bronze and Silver tend to disregard warding.

Well, after 5 years with LoL I finally am trying ranked. As for years my internet was shit. So I am starting in Bronze of course. But already in my promos for silver after 2 games, and won my first promo with that 12/2/5 Riven carry :D

Riot was making it easier for everyone to ward with trinkets, then they started nerfing all of them while removing normal wards.

Dear Riot. Please make normal wards PURCHASE-ABLE AGAIN. Especially with the trash wards you give us at the beginning of the game. And with things like bloody First Blood Towers encouraging roaming and ganks, don't you think it's bloody NEEDED?!

Not to forget the removal of the pink totem! I'd gladly spend triple the gold of a pink ward if I got a rechargeable one.

Um, quick digression before starting: wards don't directly count towards your S rank unfortunately - even though there was talk of that possibly happening during the 6.1x support related patches. (I would suggest that they impact how many players can earn their Ss though. ;) )

As a support main, I understand fully well what you mean. In my last normal game, I personally hit the 43 ward mark in a 59 minute marathon - and I am convinced that it was a key factor that helped my side win the game. And this was a game where we lost 2 inhibitors early. The leading side just was really weak at warding - and as a result we were the side who were able to snap up the dragons and eventually the opposing nexus.

Wards do count. Decent support should aim for 1 ward per minute. So if your game was 58 mins there is no reason u shouldnt have 50+ wards.

Um, first of all, careful with the tone. I'm sure that you didn't intend to be insulting. :)
And being an experienced gold player, I'm sure that you are also aware that warding can be affected by a number of factors (such as whether the game is more offensive or defensive, team composition, etc.). Speaking as a support main, I am often over the 1 ward per minute rate. So thanks for that brilliant insight. :p

Second, good luck on finding evidence that the S score is actually affected by wards. What you are saying is something that has been repeated quite a few times - by many other people. In other words, "S score is affected by wards" has a high truthiness level. But actual evidence that wards are a direct and significant factor relating to the S score is pretty weak. Indirectly, they play a huge role - but directly, no... ;)

I don't hate wards, I hate that I can't buy green wards.
