Has there been any word from RIOT on what bugs were coming out of the portal?

You could spawn a portal, then afk in base and get 5000 mr and armor. Since the minions scale off of mr and armor, they would take turrets really fast.

After a little while being disconnected it gives AFK players massive mr and armor so that AFK champs can't be farmed super easily by long range bursts or global ults like Ez and Ashes

Wow, that's an awful lot of armor. Maybe they could hotfix it by changing 5000 armor and mr to say 99% damage reduction.

If a player placed a portal then left the match, that leaver armor kicked in.

The same defenses that keep disconnected players from being repeatedly one-shot in the fountain was buffing the portal minions tremendously. They would one-shot minions and take huge chunks from buildings.
