Just delete Shen already, Riot.

It's obvious at this point you don't care about the champion nor those who dedicate their time to learn to play him.

Shen has received nerf after nerf even before his rework, and after his rework that made him even squishier in favor of half-assed gimmick mechanics that are awkward and clunky when used in succession. Then there has been an almost 3:1 ratio of nerfs to buffs, without any real explanation other than some vague "we think Shen is strong." The last patch literally had no explanation for why his Q slow got nerfed, and even everyone was asking why the Q slow of all things. But I digress.

There has been 0 communication about Shen. None. Nada. Zilch. You ask a question containing the word "Shen" and you're guaranteed to be ignored. Try it. I will bet you some damn good money that Riot will never respond if you ask a question about Shen. In Meddler's recent dev corner post about tanks and balance changes, for example, I saw several comments, all upvoted to be on the front page and perfectly visible. Many questions on several pages that were posted later were answered while anything inquiring about Shen was completely ignored.

The last time we had a real discussion about Shen was when we were promised that his E bugs would be fixed several years ago. For which we never had any follow-up or any patch notes reflecting any changes for that, nor any change to the appearance of said bugs.

I'm tired of pestering the residents of the Boards with constant pleas for some discussion regarding this champion who has been repeatedly screwed over for seemingly no reason. So here's an idea for you: ##Delete Shen from the game.

Just do it. Why keep him in the game? Set us Shen mains free instead of continuing this façade of trying to balance him.

I'm tired of this. Several years of doing this has finally caught up with me. I give up.

##EDIT: Tl;dr here is that Riot has shown for many years that they neither care about putting any semblance of work into making Shen a playable champion nor even talking about him. They pretty much pretend he doesn't exist until they hit him with another nerf without any real explanation. So if they literally don't care about this champion at all, and pretend his existence is an illusion, why even keep him in the game? Just off him like you did Banner of Command and Dominion and other things you stopped caring to work with in this third person deathmatch you've made of the game.

Hey Melledoneus, thanks for the post. Sorry about the downvotes, I assume you already know those are from people who are missing the point / misunderstanding you completely. I agree with everything you said, it would be easier if we just started from the ground-up gameplay wise.

A duelist is not something he needed to be turned into, he should be reverted in concept (not exactly reverted to his old abilities) to his old support-tank style.

I also think we all have to acknowledge that he will never be able to be viable in LCS and solo play unless his ultimate is changed entirely. It sucks, but it's something that needs to happen. I'll probably end up making some quick champion concept later just for fun, but Shen really needs to be taken out of this duelist-who-drags-a-sword around style he currently has.

Shen has been the tank duelist for ages, even before his rework.

He couldn't and still can't match up to the strongest splitpushing duelists like Tryndamere, Fiora, or Jax in a 1v1, but it was a niche he filled that other tanks didn't. He could withstand and wittle down bruisers that would do the same to almost any other tank.

Throwing a targeted Q and having a shield did not make him a duelist.

Not saying you're wrong, because he was decent at dueling, but his main niche was definitely being a reliable choice for top lane. He wasn't great for every matchup, but he was good in a lot of them. He's much different when compared to now.

Despite Shen being very unpopular in public servers, he's a pretty strong pick/ban champion in current competitive play, hence he constantly receives nerfs.

To be fair, because of the way shen works, he is so one dimensional, that when he is good, all he does is split push until a teamfight and ults over... which is still pretty BS. But then you have to take into account all the ridiculous damage that they will probably kill the target 5x over before you can channel and teleport to the target. i do believe shen is in a tough spot like others are atm though.

That's been a top paradigm with teleport for as long as I can remember.

I haven't played Shen since they removed his poke/sustain, but he played differently back then. For one, his dash was slightly longer by virtue of having a wider/longer hit box. He also didn't have any crazy dodging skill with his w, it was a mediocre shield that scaled with only ap (hp scaling shields, lel), so the best thing you could do for yourself was build hp/resist hybrid items because your sustain from your q was what scaled with your hp. Mostly your power was in your taunt and in your ult, and you were rewarded for macro level plays like wave control or catching a 3 man taunt. I suppose yeah he was one-dimensional, but he was more fun back then.

The state of the game in general isn't fun now though. I spend more time on the boards than in the game, and the only reason I played ranked at all was because other people took me for a ride in it.

i used to love old shen, i had a friend that loved doing support shen, and the sustain thing on the Q was funny with any lifesteal champ.

Interesting to see this coming from a moderator. It's not a particularly good sign when even the people who volunteered for Riot are expressing the same kind of disappointment as the rest of the playerbase, particularly since so many moderators have already left or dropped off the map for the same reasons.

Them half assing that skin he got after ages was the final drop for me. I can deal with the constant nerfs, cause why the fuck not. Theres so much BS in this game, but lets just nerf Shen some more. I'd be glad if they removed him, then I can finally quit playing this stupid game.

If you mention Ornn, Sejuani, Zac or Shen you're guaranteed radio silence. I usually ask when I notice Meddler's gameplay thoughts and I have yet to get one on any of them.

If Shen's name was Yasuo for instance, I bet I'd get an answer.
