My Team Almost Lost a 5v4 Because I was Ivern

It was only my third game on him and I admit I'm not skilled. I also admit that I spent a lot more time farming than I did with the team, but that's because I took so long farming that the enemy Nunu was always two levels higher than me purely from assist/kill XP.

Every time I joined a fight I would Q, throw up a bush and ult, then shield important people. I maxed shield first, then Q. I built RoA and Rylai's. But I just got blown up before Daisy could even get her third hit off.

This is probably not because Ivern is too weak. It's probably just the high damage penetration meta that he was released into. I'm not asking for buffs, I'm just hoping that after adcs stop building assassin items we can play Ivern.

This game was after the 10/7 hotfix. I got a single kill and I believe all of my assists came after my character was already dead in fights. All of them.

There is a lot of missing information in your story, What items were you building and what were you trying to accomplish as a team? Ivern is a great initiator as after he roots, all allies can pull the that single target. Being a jg/support he is intended as a tank so tank items suit him very well so you shouldn't die that often.

I said I built RoA and Rylai's, that's not omitted from my post.

And tank items can only get you so far. There's a reason why Gnar needs to be Mega in order to tank no matter his build. You need solid base stats, and that comes from levels.

Ivern's mid game clear speed is so terrible that it puts him behind other junglers. And unlike other junglers, he doesn't gain a healthier clear by stacking armor. So he needs health to help offset his health costs but then he has no armor to deal with armor penetration.
