Was enlightening.

I've said for like 2 years now Garen no longer counters Riven but I've been called noob, r%%%%%, idi%%%%%u name it etc.

Are we actually going to admit now Garen no longer counters Riven? Heck even Garrenmains admit he no longer counters her.

She can choose when to fight, when to farm, when to disengage, when to deny and above all has multiple means of escaping ganks with insane burst and stuns for when her jungler ganks.

I'm not asking for a Garen buff. Or a Riven nerf. But I want the community to finally understand the myth that Garen beats Riven all things being equal no longer applies.

That's not really how that works. I couldn't find the match you were talking in his history, so it might of happened some time ago or I'm missing it, but regardless. Just because a champion counters a champion, doesn't mean that you win 100% of the time.

Take two matches box box played last night for example. In one game he absolutely got smashed by the enemy darius. He fed, really hard. The next game he fought a Darius and then absolutely destroyed him. You see similar things happen when he fights other Riven counters like Poppy or Renekton, but the general trend is he struggles to lane against them.

Statistically Garen still counters Riven, but his lane dominance doesn't mean game dominance.

+1 Moreover it is a skill-based champ vs not skill-based champ matchup. The higher the elo is the less it works as a counter.

garen doesnt counter riven since season 5 when the silence on garens q was reduced from 2.5 seconds at rank 5 to 1.5 seconds flat.

the long duration silcence was what made him such a hard counter.

but nowdays a good riven has absolue and complete agency over a fight with garen. he can not make a play on her without the riven being able to reliably disengage. its always entirely in her hand if she even wants to trade and fight him or not.

its going to be difficult for the riven to kill garen, but a good riven will just go even early on and win by outscaling.
