There is a difference between a good assassin player and a bad one, a good one will flank and find opportunities to blow up your squishes. A bad one will jump into your team 1v5, get CC'ed and die.
Meanwhile 
go around with 5000HP, 200 Armor and 150MR and still oneshot your carries. And they can't be blown up.

Also getting blown up with no chance to react is not fun for anyone except the assassin player. At least with the tank meta, assassins have to respect the enemy front line, or risk getting caught up in a barrage of crowd control.

So it's cool that tanks can do the same job as assassins but also be extremely difficult to kill?
I don't see the difference being killed by an assassin in 1 second as opposed to being rooted/stunned/knocked up/slowed by over 5 seconds while he beats you to death with 
and his low CD E. 
can save you from the assassin while you kill them.
