Why was DFG issue

When Duskblade is not? To me both Duskblade and DFG do same thing, amplify damage. Yes DFG increased all damage dealt by 20% but it at least had cooldown. Have you seen what Kha zix, Zed, Talon, Kayn do with Duskblade? I am getting removed as fast or even faster than pre rework LeBlanc with DFG except this time I dont even see it comming. So explain to me why was DFG removed.

Duskblade does not amplify damage it just deals damage. Dfg was a ranged nuke for 15% of your max hp then it amplified damage making it strong against literally everything. Champions duskblade was made for are issues because they are meant to make it strong. You may be dying but in no way is it as bad as getting nuked from range by any mage with dfg especially because it made tanks take way more damage. I dont think anyone who was around for dfg really needs it explained why it was removed the comparison between dusk and dfg is like comparing a shotfun to a missile.

God I miss DFG, The first champion I bought was katarina, DFG was always first item at that time. XD When they removed DFG I refunded kat roflmao.

R.I.P. Deathfire Grasp.

The problem was the reliable % damage increase. For example, if DFG reliably made Veigar's combo 20% stronger, then for all intents and purposes veigar himself did 20% more damage. And thus, the champion had to be balanced assuming he would have this damage increase. This made the item mandatory on certain champs, as their kit was balanced around its existence.

Duskblade may or may not deal too much damage, but its damage is self contained. Its damage effects itself, and doesn't increase the inherit damage of any champions kit. If duskblade is unbalanced than it is just a numbers problem, not an inherit design flaw.

So you are telling me that Duskblade is unreliable when only thing it relying is hitting autoattack. Not skillshots. Autoattack. Something that is so reliable you can hit it even if your enemy flashed away from your autoattack range.

I never said Duskblade is unreliable, nor did I even imply that in anyway.

The difference is DFG directly increased the damage of abilities by a percentage, while Duskblade's damage is self contained in itself. Duskblade is its own damage source.

Uncounterable 15% of max hp dmg+huge 20% damage amp after that.

It could be reworked and implemented but it's original version was far too strong.

In addition to what LF has said, DFG was designed as a "tank killer" item back in the days when FoN was a ubiquitous purchase on all front liners. DFG was pretty good at being a tank buster. But it was the ultimate squishy killer allowing numerous champs to have a one shot play style as well as a purchaseable ranged point and click execute.

Imagine if blue smite didn't slow, had 50% more range, and dealt 10x to 50x the damage. It'd be a legitimate purchase for any champ at any time. And a must purchase for some.

And then on top of this the item was rather gold efficient as well.

The very existence of the item meant tanks had to be made even more tanky to be a tank and that adcs were largely useless until extremely late game when they could itemize a defensive item like GA plus games would be extremely snowbally which made late games rare to reach.
