Malzahar Voidling Problems

Malzahar's voidlings are without a doubt a very important part of his kit. They're both the majority of his waveclear, and a large part of his damage inside of his ultimate.

With that being said, Malzahar struggles very hard into some champions whose abilities can one shot his voidlings. Such champions include Ahri with her Q, Ekko with his Q, and Orianna with hers. This problem doesn't exist with champions with similar mechanics (Heimerdinger turrets, Yorick ghouls) because their health is increased by either AP or health itself.

Voidlings getting oneshot can be somewhat circumvented by summoning them after the other champion uses their ability, but their abilities typically have a lower cooldown, as Malzahar's is a fixed 8 second, and voidlings have a slight summoning time and take time to walk up to the minion line.

Every champion has bad matchups, but like Yorick's ghouls, I dont think any ability should be able to oneshot Malzahar voidlings, especially early game. Malzahar's only strength in lane is shoving waves, and so many abilities straight take it away from him.

I think that adding an AP, health, or even AD or level scaling to the voidlings would be a very nice addition. As of now the only thing you get for levelling voidlings is 2 base damage and a slight increase in duration, which doesn't affect them if they get one shot.
