My Tips to get better at League of Legends (Opinion)

And no, it's not just "git gud, scrub". These are legitimate points that I've thought hard about and would generally make everyone's playing experience a little bit better, and would hopefully reduce the astronomical amounts of toxicity this game is known for. I will be doing these tips in categories of Normal, Ranked and General. Let's get into it.

NORMALS TIPS **1. Communicate. ** Communication is highly important to winning a game. This is obvious. But it goes a bit farther than pinging. Tell your team the information you are being presented, such as when Dragon/Baron comes, enemy locations on the mini-map, item sets, and cooldowns. When you present this information to your team, they can properly prepare for whatever it is that needs doing.

2. Play to Have Fun and keep an open mind. A lot of people take this game FAR more seriously than should be allowed. Few remember this is a video game. It's sole purpose is entertainment. Playing on the Meta is fine and dandy, but sometimes you just gotta let loose and have some fun. Play things that may or may not work, as long as you are having fun, who cares what happens, right? Play AD Veigar, Tank Draven, Full Attack Speed Vi. Your options are limitless, use them to your advantage. Play with friends and laugh at your mistakes and screw ups.

3. Avoid the Negativity. Muting negative and toxic players will reduce how much stress you have to deal with during your games. If you're not listening to the flaming coming from your enemy, or even your own team, then you can focus more on the game and your own enjoyment. Adding to the Toxicity doesn't help things, it actually makes you and your gameplay worse.

4. Try new things. This can go in lines with keeping an open mind. League of Legends gives you a massive selection of options, take them to your advantage. Play different champions all the time. If you find one that suits you the best, more power to you. But you should never OTP a single champion. It'll make your gaming experience dull since your doing the same thing nearly every game. Expand your horizons and work with what you got.

RANKED TIPS I personally don't like to play ranked as it takes away a lot of the fun away from me, but there are some who find the competitive side of League enjoyable, so I feel I will give some advice here.

1. Buy and Place your Wards. Wards are essential to any game of League if you hope to win. They give you the knowledge necessary to make plays and picks, secure objectives and the like. Vision = Knowledge, and Knowledge = Power. If possible, your whole team should always have at least one Control Ward out on the field. IN MY OPINION, different trinkets are for different classes. item 3364 = Tanks, Assassins, and Most Supports. item 3340 = Marksmen, Fighter or Bruiser. item 3462 = Mages, Assassins or Fighters.

2. Learn from your mistakes. Everyone has a bad game every now and then. But that doesn't have to end with just you being angry. Learn from your mistakes as best you can. The new clients gives you the option to download your games and watch them as replays. Rewatch your games, see what you did wrong and think on how you can improve on what you could've done better. Then do better in your next game.

3. Research the Champions. Knowledge = Power again. Knowing the Cooldowns of Champion spells, summoner spells, and item actives. Know the counters to each champion. Be prepared for the match before the match.

GENERAL TIPS

1. Be respectful to your team. Remember, this is a team based game. Sure your own player skill counts, but without your team you can't do much. Getting on their good side can really help yourself. Compliment their plays, Reassure them if their doubtful, treat your support like a God. When your team knows you aren't out to get them on everything they do, the more inclined you are to be a better team.

2. Keep up to date on Patches. Know the game before starting it. Changes are always coming to League so it's best you know it beforehand. Like me, I follow the PBE via Surrender@20, so I know about every change that comes to League.

3. Don't get tilted. Keep calm while you play the game. Becoming tilted only hurts you, affecting your decision making and making you more prone to toxicity. If you do get tilted and angry at the game, take a break. Play something else for a while, preferably something that calms you.

That's all I have to say right now. I thought long and hard about these ideas, so thank you for taking the time to read them. If you want to play with me, feel free to add me. I frequently play. Good luck, and best of luck in the Fields of Justice.

My tips for actually climbing:

Stop dying/trying to make plays and just farm for mid-game fights. You win far more consistently that way than by taking risks.

Hard not to tilt when riot thinks its funny to place afkers on my team, and other bs. We all know that this game is addictive, and with that we want to have a "good" rank". We all want that silver/gold border etc etc. Im stuck in bronze again for the 4th year in a row. I do not care anymore.
