man I do not see illaoi as a problem she is easy to kill for any skilled player, hard to kill for newbies, just dodge and hit ,its that simple and never eat that R cause you will not kill her in it ,she lifesteals with it.

After some thoughts, i decided that Illaoi is in a problem state. VS low elo (bronze) players, she is very oppressive and can absolutely dominate VS high elo, she is irrelevant.

The problem is that she does not have enough input into her own minigame. As a result when her opponents become better her minigame becomes easier for them. she cannot make the minigame harder through her own input (See GP, fiora). a lot of her power is tied to the minigame as result she becomes easier to beat as the skill level increases.

Must be banned in bronze, should not be picked in gold. Not a good state for a champion to be in.

Other mini-game champions like GP and fiora and to a lesser extent Kindred have more ability to influence their mini game.

GP has control over where the barrels are placed, when they are placed, and when they explode. Fiora can reset weak points by breaking vision and abuse her own mobility to proc them. Kindred can decide to go or not to go for PVE marks. Can choose which PVP marks are activated and when.

Illaoi can choose more or less where tentacles spawn. But the more or less is not very refined. She can choose where she fights in relations to them. But the "best case" is always basically the same. Because of that high elo players get the same basic minigame that low elo players get.

If it was changed from just "automatically set down a tentacle -> go on cooldown" to "manually place a tentacle -> goes on cooldown" sort of like the way Azir's passive works, I think that would be a decent start. Of course, the range boundaries between tentacles would still apply, it's just it would actually let her have some more control.

Anything that gives her more control over the placement and behavior of the tentacles will make her into an overall better and also more healthy and also more fun character.

I would also like her to have a magazine system so she isn't tied to a super long set-up time in any given location

I do not think she needs a nerf.

She needs to have more ways to interact with her own tentacles that are controlled by the player and have player choices attached to them.

When this happens she can have a better high-elo performance (good players good decisions good mechanics), and also worse lower elo performance (bad players bad mechanics).

Right now her mechanics auto-pilot low skilled opponents to extinction, whereas high skilled opponents have no problems VS her whatsoever.
