Okay... so Riot's reverting Fizz's W. Meddler, was AS bruiser Fizz obnoxious?

3/26 PBE Update

Basically, Fizz's % of missing health damage is going back into the passive effect of Seastone Trident as a DoT effect instead of it being applied as an on-hit effect. This will basically mean that AS Fizz is going to go bye-bye.

I suspected this might happen, but now it seems a certainty. What I'd like to know, however, is the context behind why Riot doesn't like AS Fizz. Is it simply a case of "He's not supposed to do that", or is it something else?

I think people hated playing against it even more than they did playing against AP Fizz, honestly. They didn't intend to make him a bruiser and he only became one because they destroyed AP Fizz just that badly. Now people who enjoy playing him as an AP assassin can do that again. IMO it's about time.

Did they actually destroy AP Fizz, or did they just make him reasonable to play against and therefore uninteresting? ~Uiru

No he was unplayable. Believe me I tried :| Without the Chompers debuff you were useless, and even then you weren't very likely to get a kill...

They made him pretty bad. He's a champ that nobody has any idea how to play against and his win rate fell to 45%. It didn't start rising until people discovered the AD build.

It was a bizarre mini-rework. They gave him 20% extra damage on his ult and hit his Q so hard that the amp still left you at a fraction of your previous damage.

He's more unhealthy than ap fizz is.

That's what I thought. Still, it'd be nice if a Rioter could confirm that.

they probably will in the patch notes.

I don't quite get it. Am I the only one who thought that AD Fizz was healthier than AP Fizz? When AP Fizz is strong, if he gets fed he can 100% -> 0% you without much chance for counterplay.

AD Fizz still takes time to kill you, so you have more time to outplay him.

the thing is, ad fizz does soo much damage, while being tanky and slippery. And he snowballs harder than ap fizz, due to the fact that he is much harder to kill and possesses better dueling potential. It's also easier for ad fizz to reach the 40 percent cd cap, than it is for ap fizz.

He was rather insane as AD fizz. All you had to do was rush a bork, then either the rest full tank so no one could take you down thanks to your E and your tank stuff, and you'd end up just deleting people when you pressed W. It didn't matter how much armor that they had or health thanks to the flat %. I for one will enjoy playing against AP fizz again because at least then you have a chance thanks to the longer build path that the AP champs have to go through.

AS Fizz is going to go bye-bye.

GOD BLESS

AS Fizz is up there with AP Yi, AP Tryndamere, and AP Sion as the top most retardedly annoying and exploitive builds in LoL history.

They reverted it but kept the damage modifier. GGWP. My main will be banned again in every single ranked game.

It's probably because he was building near straight tank and doing carry level damage.

Well, he's still going to be rather nerfed changed (thank the goddess) to be more reliant on actually landing his ult, instead of blowing you sky-high in a single rotation.

The stupid thing that made AD Fizz possible was the fact that the active damage on W had no AP ratio, but only dealt damage based on the enemy's missing HP with each strike - making AS a preferable stat, and giving him the freedom to build tanky otherwise.

The only common denominator I see here between the problematic AD fizz and AP fizz is his E... Riot rework or adjust his E. Fizz is a menace because his E is too easily accessible and versatile. Hit it's availability or it's versatility, but make no mistake its fizz's E that is the root of the issue. Nerfing him in other areas is slowly making him weaker in an odd way, a way that ultimately doesnt fix him.

This is a great question. Fizz has a very average win rate at around 49% in solo queue.

His pick / ban is only 30%, which is lower then about a dozen other champs. Heck, it's lower then just the PICK rate of Jinx, Graves and Thresh..

He's not dominating the LCS.

Seems odd Riot would single him out for a pretty serious change. This effectively removes the attack speed build.

I would be interested to hear Riot's rational behind it as well. Is it a flavor issue? It must be, because there doesn't seem to be any statistical support that a power oriented modification was necessary.

Tanky character with 2 forms of escapes that can duel and assassinate while being tanky is not healthy

When taken jungle Fizz was dealing 8%currentHP physical damage from item 3153 plus 8%missingHP magic damage from seastone active AND magic damage on hit with some true damage burn fromitem 3718 , all while having 40% because he built item 3110 plus cdr from runes/masteries and blue buff, and was super tanky from item 3102 item 3075 .

He was so stinking hard to itemize against because he did literally all types of damage, and his kit made him uncatchable.
