Tone Down on Jinx?

Lavaniel··6 votes·1,305 views

She's pumping out way too much damage for such a popular, high win ratio ADC. Can we not see some tweaking so that she's not so obnoxious? I mean...those crit-rockets...

For some reason what was meant as a basic post, is now somthing like "be philiosphical and tell us why Jinx needs a nerf".

Alright I've got a few points.

  1. Jinx has the longest AA range in the game with just a basic skill, and not an ultimate Twitch
  2. Jinx's rockets gain 10% bonus AD per attack (yet some say Ashe's passive swap with Talon would be ridiculous, but Jinx already functions on this)
  3. Jinx's W has 1500 range and can slow. Caitlyn's Piltover Peacemaker has 1250 range, but yet Caitlyn is described as a sniper, and it does not slow. (But Caitlyn's will go through minions) This ability is even longer than Sivir's boomerang.
  4. Her ultimate gives surrounding enemies hit 80% of the AD, while Ashe's ultimate gives enemies only half of the SLOW
  5. If Jinx decides to build damage for the rockets, but needs to do single target damage, her Pow-Pow toggle will grant her bonus attack speed, up to 32%. She can build either way for attack speed or for crit rockets and both will work too well
  6. Jinx's AoE crit rockets will hit anyone with 150 range. Which means for solo queue and about any other mode, you're going to need serious communication just to take her down with her range in question.
  7. She has a basic ability root along with all that damage.
  8. Her passive plus chompers gives her more escape than Ashe. Ashe can slow and stun for a short distance, but without the kill potential of Jinx, Ashe is much less mobile.
  9. Jinx will gain more armor per level than Sivir, which makes it much harder to kill her if you look into damage details.
  10. She is picked in 1/3 of all League of Legends games, and wins 52% of them in all game modes.
  11. Jinx begins with more AD than Ashe, Tristana, Lucian, Sivir, Ezreal , Miss Fortune, Kog'Maw and Caitlyn.
  12. Her rocket ultimate gains damage as it travels, and it is hard to dodge. In recent glitches, it has been invisible.
  13. At max level, Jinx's chompers can do 600 base AP damage, not including if she has other items with AP in them for a scaling of 200%.
  14. Jinx's passive gives her 175% move speed that decays over 4 seconds. With the gap closers she has, Jinx is always poised to win team fights and clean up.
  15. Her rockets deal FULL damage, unlike Runaan's hurricane.

There's 15 reasons with full data to support them. That's for MotherTeresa1910.

Go ahead and down vote me if you want. I wasn't beaten by a Jinx. I with with a duo queue partner who plays Jinx because she's so OP, and because Jinx can destroy teams all on her own because of her amazing kill potential.

She needs some form of tweak to make other ADCs have a stinking chance.

And if you say TL:DR, then shut up.

Don't let Jinx catch you and your team in a big huddle then, Christ. What is this, football?

Lavaniel1 votes

Ok, so am I supposed to just stand conveniently back at 700 range as a fucking Yorick and kill her?

Literally that is the longest range in the game.

disregardable2 votes

She can only hit one direction at once. Send your tank in the front and you can easily flank her FROM THE SIDE at whatever yorick's range is.

The5lacker3 votes

I said "don't huddle around teammates."

Man, no wonder you're losing to Jinx. You haven't even figured out reading, how can you possibly expect to get any guide that helps you with the basics? Like the fact that Jinx's rockets don't actually deal much more damage to a single target than any other champion's crits, and in order to use them Jinx has to flush almost all of her AS down the toilet, which means that her rocket's single target DPS is always lower than both her minigun's and basically every other ADC's in the game.

Lavaniel1 votes

But when she decides to switch to a minigun the AS increases per shot. With all that crit, she's a monster no matter which way you look at it.

The5lacker3 votes

Like every other ADC in the game.

Only unlike a lot of ADCs, Jinx only gets mobility if she kills someone, and her only forms of CC are unreliable as all shit, so an intelligent team will engage on her, stunlock her into oblivion, then move on to the rest of her team.

Lavaniel1 votes

She still needs a tweak to match the rest of the ADCs in the game. Honestly, in comparison to Lee Sin, Jinx is much more scarier. And wins a whole lot more.

It doesn't matter. Riot is going to nerf Sejuani anyways. Our thoughts don't matter.

The5lacker4 votes

Yes: Your thoughts don't matter. So fuck off and stop bitching about a champion who, while popular, is far from overpowered. You lost to her. Deal with it. She's got plenty of strengths. She also has plenty of weaknesses, and is the most popular ADC ever to be so uniquely vulnerable to assassins as she's got no hard CC and no escapes.

Lavaniel1 votes

Your reported.

Don't be such an asshole.

Lavaniel1 votes

I'm only complaining because I either win with Jinx with my duo queue partner, or lose to her because she scales so quickly.

I wouldn't put it quite as bluntly but this is fairly accurate. You keep going on about the ranges and comparing them but you're doing it with a very, very blinkered view so here is my contribution.

Her rockets cost mana PER ROCKET. 600 range at rank 1, 700 at rank 5 which is likely to be level 8 or 9. The rockets gain no attack speed after the first shot and gasp rockets have splash damage of melee range. An attack speed steroid on a 525 range basic attack is the least she could get. Lucian can harass people through minions without putting himself in danger. Caitlyn can harass through minions without putting herself in danger. Varus is the same and Ezreal has a skillshot that won't touch minions to harass with. Sivir has two very safe ways to harass through minions too. See how easy it is to make things seem worse than they are? Zapp has long range, it's a skillshot slow and it is stopped by the very first thing it hits. Got it lined up for a kill and a minion walks in front? Too bad. Dodged? Too bad. Her traps take a little time to activate, they were nerfed to this state. If she drops them right at your feet and you're chasing you can run through before they will snare you. If she drops them a little in front and you don't have the reaction speed to stop, flash or turn then that's your own fault.

Any number of champions can chase her down and your use of her passive as an escape is laughable. Graves has a dash, Lucian has a dash, Corki has a jump dash, Tristana has a jump dash, Ezreal has a dash. Quinn, technically, has an escape too because with a ward or use of Valor to give vision she can use vault on a jungle minion to clear a wall. Jinx has..... a big speed boost that decays very rapidly. An escape? No. An escape from a tower if you get a kill / assist or an escape from an approaching enemy team if you kill a tower perhaps.

Nobody here agrees with you and you're using one-sided arguments to fight a losing battle. Jinx requires a lot of protection early and if not fed she will struggle.

You still don't see anyone else in the game with AoE crit rockets. I considered all champions. Nobody has that ability. NOBODY.

It doesn't matter to anyone because the most times the rockets are used is for lane harass or to kill someone out of normal attack range. She's a hyper carry for a reason but really needs a team built to protect her. She has no real escapes and if you think flame chompers or zapp is going to stop a determined assassin or bruiser with a real gap closer you're wrong.

You also have to keep in mind that this ability to switch between two weapons is one of her abilities. She doesn't get a long range skillshot that can cut through minions and still chunk you (Varus, Caitlyn, Lucian) so if you really want to look at it then you have to look at it as an ability. Ashe's Q uses mana while active and that gives a good % slow on a basic attack that also applies to the volley shot Ashe has. You might think it's overpowered but I don't see it personally. I like Jinx, she was the first champion I bought a skin for when I got the bundle at her launch but I don't play her all that often. I face her sometimes and like all lane opponents you learn how to work around their harass or use it against them.

Jinx actually does not need changes to "match" the other ADCS in League. She has strengths and weaknesses that, to a competent player, are obvious and easy to use to your advantage.

You obviously haven't tried to use that 700 range against a full health team in a team fight. I've made that mistake and been squashed before I got the kill that Jinx needs in order to have any mobility.

I actually have to laugh at the people who go on and on about the 700 range. When Jinx is using Fishbones her shots come out so slowly that you can fall asleep between them. Sure she has a chance of an AOE crit which is nice, but its the lowest attack speed for an ADC in the game. That 700 range is ONLY useful for poking into team fights while looking to position so you can switch back to PowPow and erase the other team's carries or waveclearing minions in the mid/late game.

Jinx isn't all powerful and if you know how/when to focus her you can kill her early and often. And since she is extremely item reliant even for an ADC if she ends up falling behind she rarely can catch up to be relevant later in the game. If you are losing to one, you aren't exploiting her weaknesses or you are running into a very good and careful player who is avoiding putting themselves in places where they can be killed easily.

BeatzBoyFTW4 votes

You just plainly suck. Even if we might want to explain the counters to you, all you do is just whine & sulk and ignore everything, like a 5 year old kid who drops his ice cream and demands a miracle from his own mother to "magically" give him a new one.

Every champion can be shut down.

One game we pulled a 4 man ace on the enemy team. Jinx was full health (she was late to the teamfight probably due to recalling). Our team was low health, spotted the lonely jinx, 3 of them decided to chase her (very very bad idea), Jinx got a triple kill with one zap.

We won that game though. How? In all the fair 5v5 teamfights we CC'd and focused her.

Stop qq'ing because you lost a game to a competent Jinx.

Lavaniel1 votes

Not just to one. You know how many games I've won because of a Jinx? My duo queue partner? Its fucking retarded.

I've won so many games playing against Jinx adc simply because I know how to shut her down. Hell, I've even won games where I played Cait vs Jinx and stomped hard and supposedly Jinx is the biggest counter to Cait. Maybe the people you've been playing against are below your skill level?

With that logic it's like saying Sivir is OP because i have an 80% win ratio (check with na.op.gg for confirmation if need be) with her in addition to having a respectable KDA. Why does this not make sense? Because there are bad Sivir players and there are good Sivir players.

There are bad jinx players and good jinx players.

There are people who know how to shut down jinx and there are those who don't.

There are games where your team comp will be entirely in your favor.

Bottom line: don't Q.Q about ADC's when their main job is to "carry" games. I'm all for Katarina being toned down though. Had a Katarina one time 100-0 three tanks who were all full health and got a triple kill.

MrPerson102 votes

She is a hypercarry..

Lavaniel1 votes

Hypercarry shouldn't mean broken, or "I'll just face roll your entire team without even having a danger to myself."

MrPerson103 votes

Maybe you don't realize that Jinx is one of the weaker early-game ADCs who severely lacks mobility. Maybe you don't realize she's outclassed in the mid-game by the ever-popular Graves Tristana She has to make it to late-game and still have kept up at the very least evenly with her enemy AD carry to be effective.

Lavaniel1 votes

And then you realize she has a slow, a stun, and a passive that gives her a built-in ghost. What's that about mobility? Because a jump still won't protect you from a Blitzcrank pull.

MrPerson102 votes

And then you realize her passive gives her a built-in ghost for a whopping 4 seconds, tapering off rapidly in that time. A slow that's a skillshot at small range. A stun that's easily dodged unless you're already snared or stunned.

Cmon man, think for 2 seconds.

Lavaniel1 votes

But Graves has a dash that's about one second in duration. Jinx is four seconds, decreasing, but that slow is shot at 1500 range?

Like what the hell. When did 1500 become small range.

Did you think past two seconds?

MrPerson101 votes

Jinx has no dash or consistent ability to kite as effectively.

Consider this: Kog'maw has a spammable ult with 1200 range early, 1500 by lvl 11 and a whopping 1800 range at lvl 16.

Yes, its a small range.

Lavaniel1 votes

Level One, 1500 range. That's just 300 range off from a fully upgraded Kog'Maw ult. EARLY GAME, mind you.

Kog'Maw is artillery. It is literally the name of his ultimate.

I don't understand your logic.

MrPerson102 votes

With a super tiny hitbox as well, does not travel through minions or other targets. Renders it useless as anything but a defensive mechanism early on that's easily sidestepped considering she has a solid 0.5second delay vs Kog's 0.2 second cast on a spammable ult.

Can't get it through minions consistently, it will not be a long-range spell early. By lvl 11, you're teamfighting at which point Kog's ult has the same range.

It is not fair to say Jinx's passive is broken because it can take her further than Graves's dash. Only one of those can be activated at will and to be quite honest Jinx's passive is very tame in comparison to other ADCs.

And that slow has a very visible beam that appears a second before Jinx shoots so it is easily dodged. Also it hits the first thing it hits so if you stand behind a minion or your team's tank it can't hurt you at all.

It also requires that Jinx stand still for the charging time, so its barely usable in team-fights as standing still is a good way to get focused and killed.

It's not all that powerful if you are paying attention. I rarely get hit by it because I notice the outline of the shot and do something very simple. I MOVE.

Lavaniel1 votes

You have a pretty good point. Thanks for the neutral tone, by the way. Its hard to dodge things like that on the east coast because we are always more behind than our west coast counterparts.

Which means all it does is stop the champ from moving. The champ can still attack and use abilities. It's useful as an escape, but remember it has a charging time once it appears on the ground. If you throw it at the feet of an enemy champ they can just step away before the things arm.

It's most common use is to throw it in front of Jinx while running away so that you run over them and hopefully the enemy champ chasing you doesn't stop and steps on them so you can get away. Most players know to walk around them.

I don't know about your friend, but most players consider her Chompers to be largely useless. They do little to no damage as raising Jinx's AP doesn't help her with any other ability and their arming time makes them ineffective as an offensive weapon.

Jinx has a stun?

http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Jinx

Where?

Her stun is her trap. Her 'e' skill. @The5lacker

The5lacker5 votes

Really? That's a stun? Lets read it together, shall we?

The champion that sets off the chomper is also rooted the same duration. Chompers explode automatically after 5 seconds. A single champion can only set off a single chomper, but can be damaged if they remain in range when they explode.

Man, I don't see the word "stun" anywhere in that ability description. Am I just missing it? Lets check the ability notes. Nope. Nothing about a stun in there. In fact, the word "stun" doesn't appear anywhere on that page at all.

The word you're looking for is "snare" or "root." Which is not a stun. A snare doesn't stop abilities. A stun does. A snare doesn't stop attacks. A stun does. A snare doesn't interrupt a channel. A stun does. Learn your terminology. Not every CC that prevents you from moving is a stun. In fact, most of them aren't.

My mistake. I'm still fairly new to the game. I've always assumed that any time a champion was immobile due to a champion's abilities it was classified as a "stun."

Clarify this for me: I've heard people saying Blitzcrank has a "silence" but I only notice the knockup? Is the knockup the silence or am I missing something?

Blitz's big lighting Ult with a 30 second cooldown is also a silence.

They should just make it so her rockets can't crit anymore. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that BASIC attacks could crit. I wasn't aware that AOE abilities were also able to do this. Apparently only Jinx is allowed to have this because she wouldn't be "unique" if she couldn't. There are certain things that just shouldn't be allowed to exist and AOE crits is one of them.

Jinx's W has that pink line indicator thingy which already shows her own counterplay. If you can't actually dodge this (simply by moving sideways....), then I got bad news for you.

  1. Her ultimate gives surrounding enemies hit 80% of the AD, while Ashe's ultimate gives enemies only half of the SLOW

Means it was a 4v5 all along to have Jinx deal that much damage, why didn't your team initiated first when Jinx left to base, huh?

  1. If Jinx decides to build damage for the rockets, but needs to do single target damage, her Pow-Pow toggle will grant her bonus attack speed, up to 32%. She can build either way for attack speed or for crit rockets and both will work too well

Notice that her rocket cast time were a little slow, she actually excels more in her minigun form. See (2).

Comparing the pickrate with certain ADCs like Sivir, people aren't really in the liking of exploring more ADCs to use, and just plainly spread the Jinx "freelo".

  1. Jinx begins with more AD than Ashe, Tristana, Lucian, Sivir, Ezreal , Miss Fortune, Kog'Maw and Caitlyn.

Invalid argument, unless if her runes are full AD, then other ADCs can do the same too.

  1. Her rocket ultimate gains damage as it travels, and it is hard to dodge. In recent glitches, it has been invisible.

Why must you stand in the middle of the lane, making her rocket easier to hit you then?

  1. At max level, Jinx's chompers can do 600 base AP damage, not including if she has other items with AP in them for a scaling of 200%.

Seriously, her E damage is totally neglected, and cast time is pretty slow.

  1. Jinx's passive gives her 175% move speed that decays over 4 seconds. With the gap closers she has, Jinx is always poised to win team fights and clean up.

Then the problem is you and your team. Please stop sucking and feeding her.
