Help a Support Main

As someone in low bronze who queues support, I get my role 95% of the time. However, the 5% of games I'm not support are pretty much an instant loss because I haven't played anything else frequently enough to be good at them.

I also don't know how I'd go about practicing my role, because to reliably get anything that isn't support I'd have to queue two of the common roles, and it seems like at that point it's a coin toss as to which role I get. I used to play other roles whenever I was leveling up my account but all of that has kinda fell to the wayside.

What do I do in this situation? Would I have to learn two extra roles instead of just one? Should I just dodge if I don't get support? Should I just stop playing ranked?

Just play normals, dude. That's a great, no-downside way to practice and learn the game.

"Normals: It's like ranked without all the rage-quits."

Yeah, I've honestly considered just stopping ranked all together. I've found normals a lot more fun because I can actually be competitive in them, and I'm not really one who cares much about rank anyways, I just did it at the start of the season to see where I'd place, and I only queue for it these days if normal queues take too long. I don't really care about climbing ranks that much either, I'd rather focus on improving my mechanics.

personally to practice new champions and roles i recommend custom bot games. noone flames you for doing anything wrong and you can actually concentrate on learning the champ and role as well as how to cs more efficiently.

I feel like all support mains should know how to adc, and all adc mains should know how to support so you should really learn how to adc. being familiar with both roles is really helpful and will really improve ur skills as a support too imo. Just play a few custom games and then a few normal games until you're comfortable with the role. Transitioning to adc should be relatively easy since youre already familiar with bot lane. just play easy adc's like ashe or miss fortune and you'll be fine. ur synergy with ur bot lane partner will be better too since you'll know what to expect from them/both the enemy support & adc since u know both roles if that makes sense

Very true...i learned every lane but being a support main myself, learning adc is a good point.

Find a premade, switch roles with them as needed.

This really depends on the type of support you are familiar with playing. Your match history shows a lot of Nami, so I would recommend setting mid as your secondary. Get familiar with Utility Mids like Lux, Lulu and Karma. Orianna is another option if you feel like a challenge (very fun regardless of results). The gameplay for these is similar to Poke/Utility supports in that you hang back, poke when able and shield your team as required. The major difference will be your concern with cs and dealing with a 1v1 lane. You will be supporting from the mid lane, so hopefully your team is running a Tank Support and your Jungler and Top lane are both champions that can carry. I'm not saying you can't carry with a Utility Mid, but if you're losing every game you don't get support, I think that's a good indication that carrying is not your thing.
