Tahm tweak to ballance him

I think I have an idea to better ballance Tahm damage output.

Before I'm telling what it is. I will mention that this so called tweak will not be liked by a certain amount of players on this community because this tweak will shift his focus more to his support & toplane role. Rather than his jungle brutal solo flanks.

#Devour/Regurgitate

The damage for Devour champions has been nerfed to compensate for the Abyssal Voyage change. I'm to lazy to calculate the number.

#http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/c/cb/Abyssal_Voyage.png Abyssal Voyage

  • PASSIVE: Tahm Kench's basic attacks and damaging abilities deal bonus magic damage based on the amount of "Acquired Taste's" on his target:

    • 0 Acquired Taste's: 20 bonus magic damage
    • 1 Acquired Taste's: 20 (+ 1 / 3 / 5% bonus health)
    • 2 Acquired Taste's: 20 (+ 4 / 6 / 8% bonus health)
    • 3 Acquired Taste's: 20 (+ 7 / 9 / 11% bonus health)
  • ACTIVE: Tahm Kench channels for up to 15 seconds, highlighting the path to his intended destination to allies while opening his maw to offer up to one allied champion the chance to come with him. Once an ally has climbed in or if Tahm Kench decides to go solo by Abyssal Voyage 2 reactivating Abyssal Voyage, he begins a 1-second channel which, upon completion, blinks him and his ally to the target location, arriving after a 0.5-second delay. When arriving to targets location he gains bonus movement speed, which doubles when moving toward an enemy champion for 3 seconds. This bonus only aplies when he brought an ally with him in his ult. If he didn't bring a ally with him. His W will not go on 3 second cooldown.

Taking damage interrupts Abyssal Voyage, putting it on a 10-second reduced cooldown. Abyssal Voyage cannot be activated while Devour his belly is full.

    • MOVEMENT SPEED (only when taking an ally with him in his ult): 15 / 17.5 / 20 / 22.5 / 25% (same as his W)

#Context

This change will put more power into his short combo's while reducing some of his sustain damage. Since his W removes his Acquired Taste's stacks his damage output in longer fights will be lower. Unless he intentionaly doesn't Devour his target what he now in certain situations actualy can do. This gives him a lot more options when it comes to role diversity. For example while dueling a champion you normally would want to devour your target as fast as possible. But now vs certain enemies you will probaly would rather wait & deal some more damage giving your enemy more roam to fight back. This change could help him a lot for his toplane role where he could force longer fights if he wants to.

The biggest nerf with this so called tweak will be his jungle role. His clear will be a lot slower. However the R active is sligtly more impactfull now. This would shift his more back to the utility he can provide rather than just his raw damage output. I actualy think it's better than just straight out nerf the number.

For his support role it's still a nerf to his damage. You generaly doesn't have the stickyness to aply a lot of stacks to your targets. You have to keep in mind you will rarely have the change to auto attack after aplying 3 stacks to your target. Think like this:

  • You Q your target: 20 damage > target now has 1 stack
  • You auto your target: 20 (+ 1 / 3 / 5% bonus health) > target now has 2 stacks
  • You auto your target: 20 (+ 4 / 6 / 8% bonus health) > target now has 3 stacks
  • You devour your target: 20 (+ 7 / 9 / 11% bonus health), we nerf W so it deals about the same damage it deals now.
  • Enemy has no more stacks so the circle repeats

Currently we have it's like this

  • You Q your target: 20 (+ 4 / 6 / 8% bonus health) > target now has 1 stack
  • You auto your target: 20 (+ 4 / 6 / 8% bonus health) > target now has 2 stacks
  • You auto your target: 20 (+ 4 / 6 / 8% bonus health) > target now has 3 stacks
  • You devour your target: 20 (+ 4 / 6 / 8% bonus health)
  • Enemy has no more stacks so the circle repeats

So 4% vs 1%, 4% vs 4%. This means his combo will deals 3% bonus health damage less.

This ult active buff is to compensate for the jungle nerf & to solve one strange issue in his kit. Currently Tahm cannot use his W for 3 seconds after using his ult. To ballance this out, Tahm now doesn't have this when he flies solo & when he does take an ally with his he get something to compensate.

Why does everyone want to balance Tahms dmg when he doesnt even do a lot? lel

He actualy would do more if he doens't devour his target. This isn't a straight out nerf if you read properly.

Well but you wrote balance in the title + in the first sentence. I just dont see why people want any change to Tahm in the first place when there is a new season, a huge meta change, a lot of new items and "new" champs coming, while things like Lux, Kindred, Darius, GP, Fiora, Veigar, whatever still exist.

Ballance isn't really a word you can justify towards this community. An tweak fits the bill better. It's a tweak overal. It's not a straight out nerf accross the board which how the community will interpret when whe are talking to ballance.

I'm actualy sure we won't see a lot of Tahm support next season. It will be the jungle that will become problematic. And I don't want to see Tahm support role getting gutted to compensate for his jungle stengths. This is far the best tweak I can think about to make sure this wouldn't be the case.

Tahm's stronger then any of those champions, as bad as that sounds. The new meta's going to have some impact, but Tahm still needs something changed.

Tahm is weaker than every single of those champs lel. I just dont see what makes him so "strong", his dmg is average (https://i.gyazo.com/4c16e80893eab14447a5de5ae0b1b9a1.png the yellow number is dmg dealt every game ), his CC is weak- maybe "ok", his peeling is pretty ass in teamfights, his E is pretty useless when he gets kited properly, hes got nothing to gap close except for his Q, he doesnt even have an actual ult (that helps in fights),... "His W can save someone that got caught by something like a Morg Q" is literally the only thing going for him and that makes him broken?
