CONTEXT BOMB: So, what you're seeing here was never intended to hit PBE. This is an example of us testing with extremes - while the designer working on Alistar changes is likely to tune his heal this patch, this was a check-in for a very specific goal. That is, 'Let's do some gross outrageous numbers just to find the breaking point and see how far we can go'. It's intended to be pretty out of line, and then used as a base to tune from (i.e. if 110 mana / 120 healing is unplayable and 90 mana / 180 healing is overtuned, where do we move the lever etc).

Thanks to an error in our overlay system, this got out sooner than expected. We're definitely targeting Alistar this patch (and likely his E spell), but not necessarily this hard or in this way (potentially changing mechanics over numbers).

I guess I won't be maxing E first anymore.

I normally just put 3 early points in E and then maxed Q then W.

I always max E first, except when against Morgana.

Then I go for the W so my W can take out her shield and I can proceed to stun with my Q.

Probably, his E is kinda conflicting with the rest of hit kit and it muddies up his counterplay

The big question is what would be a good replacement E.

The better point is that Riot purposely removed a skillful element of a good champion, which necessitated making a nerf on him due to his consistency/ease-of-play putting him over the top.

Sucks to be any Alistar player who was good at landing his W-Q combo.

Alistar was a character who effectively had two one-point-wonder skills and the only real (admittedly very arbitrary) skill-cap part of his kit was removed. Not terribly surprising that he's getting Printer from Office Space'd.

Were people maxing e first? I never did and he still felt fine. I feel like it's best use is just to proc his passive anyway.

Heal and run through minions. He will be fine if they don't touch his ult and cc abilities.

Riot's gonna say that the issue is that it screws up Alistar's supposed weakness to poke.

wow so it can barely heal people so rightnow his e is just a cheap trick to proc his passive 1 more time when engaging...which doesn't do that much dmg riot you're better than this don't just nerf things change them instead

Check what Scarizard said: the above number change was unintentional. It'll probably be reverted by tomorrow.
