his winrates have been dropping and personally ive played garen a lot in the past and he simply does not feel like the beefy guy i used to love play.
he now has maybe like what? 1 person he can counter toplane and thats idk 
who you see more in the jungle anyway.

TheJakeinator3 votes - If the players are of equal skill Garen wins. Im a darius one trick in diamond 5 with 3000 darius games over 3 seasons. This lane is annoying for Darius.
- Because of the way his Kit works calling him melee is sort of incorrect. Almost all of his damage in lane is ranged. Also once you get one 
he can't kill you.
- Skill matchup. Garen actually has a 51 percent win rate in this matchup.
- This was an interesting one you put considering he has a 56 percent winrate top lane vs akali.
- Olaf wins this one ill give you that
- Skill matchup. Garen has way more single target damage as Yorick is DPS so Garen will win an outright duel.
- Garen literally stomps this matchup like no tomorrow idk what you are on.
Also notice i said he stomps most matchups, not all of them. The list of melees that he destroys is a lot longer then the ones who fair decently vs him or counter him

TheJakeinator1 votesYeah idk what elo you are in, but I one trick the hell out of Darius and anyone who plays Garen in diamond definitely is hard to play against. The lane is not easy. Maybe in low elo it is because nobody knows how to play vs Darius, but in Diamond, players are good, they know their damage, and how to counterbuild.

TheJakeinator1 votesAssuming your name im sure you play a lot of Garen, but try my build. I play him in diamond with some success outside my normal main Darius. I go BC, youmous, IE, boots, two tank items. Works most games and stomps most lanes. Try it out

He can be plenty beefy and he is more of a team fighting juggernaut, once people realize this in his strengths they will be able to play him better, instead of just trying to rush in 1v5 or whatever like they think they used to be able to do or something. Idk.
