The problem with the new preseason runes update.

Riot said in its recent rune update that they will add base stats to the champs to match thier "role" which is very limiting since it will destroy offmeta picks entirely. We saw that sometimes offmeta picks are very strong and fun at the same time (mf support, lulu mid, etc...).

So what im suggesting is that beside the rune change, add us another page or add another rune slots where we can choose which benus stats we want, that way we add more diversity to the game and not make it limiting. Since the role is a concept made by the community and can drasticly change over time.

mf support, lulu mid

lel. That's built with basic Adc set up, lulu mid was also built with a basic mid set up. Adding base stat changes to them isn't going to make that not possible.

acually it does, the fact that she starts almost with the same stats as the enemy laner gives her a chance of winning, now imagine her having more supportive stats like moovment speed and the enemy start with more ap/ad or lethality and magic pen from the base stats, she has no chance of winning

If riot wanted more diversity in their game, they'd change masteries to be acquired by in game levels and they'd remove flat runes. But they didn't so i wouldn't expect them to start caring any time soon.

how does that increase diversity? in masteries, you can put a tank masteries on adc if you wanted to.

good point. so let's use that example. If you unlocked parts of your mastery tree as you leveled up in the game, then for the first few levels this adc using tank masteries would be on an almost identical playing field to that of the ADC using offensive masteries.

So if they're playing a champion which can't utilize the masteries very well, or is building differently, then you're no longer stacking the early game against them. Meaning they can get ahead in the first few minutes and hold out till the late game where their champion/build can be utilized, even if it wouldn't normally be useful in the early-mid game.

The up-front power of masteries and runes disproportionately strengthens some champions/builds over others. That's why flattening it out would increase diversity.

what im talking about is the fact that some champions can use two or more different masteries and be good at it adc picking tank masteries was a weak example because of the BASE STATS of the adc are more offensive than defensive, and the tank masteries are weaker for ranged champs. as a prime example of a champ than can have two different masteries is kayn. if you went thunderlords(meta) you will have the fast damage, if you went fervor of battle you will have an amazing teamfight and skirmishes as rhaast/darkin since he scales soo good with its bonus ad. now what i was saying is that some champion's meta is a tank meta(garen) but at the same time they scale soo well with ad(garen) so just giving him armor/magic resist without you having any control on it is kinda limiting. you can go grasp of the undying and be tnaky af, aqnd you can go stormriders and be this slippery son of a bitch that assasinates everyone
