The 15-90 bonus hp is a nerfed version of the nerfed scaling health from season 8

Hi,

ya boi here presenting some additional context for just how terrible the 15-90 bonus hp stat really is.

  1. 15 bonus hp lvl 1 - without chrysalis - screws over any strategies that don't involve starting a Doran's shield/blade (unless you are one of the remaining champions with high base hp)

  2. 15 bonus hp is the same bonus hp you'd get from running resolve tree with sorcery/domination/precision in season 8 EXCEPT the scaling was still higher (15-145 instead of 15-90) while still getting roughly the same damage you can get now (14 adaptive AP, for example, with 15-145 scaling hp. Now, as a mage, you could get 20 adaptive AP but only 15-90 scaling hp. Very lame).

  3. 15 bonus hp is half the starting hp you'd get from running Resolve primary Inspiration secondary (30 hp) and less than half if you ran Inspiration primary, resolve secondary (35 hp) with a MUCH LOWER scaling. i.e. Resolve primary Inspiration secondary would give 30-270 scaling hp, which is a reasonably good scaling into lategame. And the reverse would give 35-300 scaling hp - even better.

  4. 15-90 scaling hp offers 4.4 hp per level. This is not a "defensive stat". This is a joke. Context: season 8 adaptive bonus for ALL TREES - with Resolve - offered 7.6 hp per level (at the least) and 15.6 hp per level at most.

  5. Early season 8 offered flat hp bonuses from all combinations with the Resolve tree, with a max of 145 hp per level. Maybe this was too forgiving on tanks, but it made it less punishing to say, start a longsword and a refillable potion lvl 1 or ancient coin etc. etc. while running less tanky runes. Scaling hp in Season 8 was a nerfed version of this. Which was nerfed again with the removal of Celestial Body.

  6. speaking of season 8, we used to have considerably larger hp bonuses (up to 145 lvl 1 - it was flat hp) in addition to the same armor and MR bonuses we now have. Mirror shield anyone??

  7. Removal of Chrysalis is another nerf to base hp, or just any hp stat bonuses and unlike Riot says, the new scaling hp rune and the armor/mr runes in no way compensate for this.

  8. None of this is to mention the old s2-7 runes and masteries, which Runes Reforged has (basically) become a nerfed version of, which offered you way more choice with stat bonuses in every single way. This gave 'off meta' strategies more viability while keeping the game interesting and fresh. The new stat bonuses are a complete ripoff of the s7 runes - especially with regards to base hp.

  9. Even the old Quintessence of Scaling Health was better than 15-90 hp - further evidence that the new stat bonuses are trash.

  10. The nerfed scaling hp is compounded by dozens of nerfs to base hps, base armor/mr, and buffs to every single damage source in the game (sometimes in the addition of new keystones or items: Shield Bash, Conqueror, Hail of Jhin (Blades), Zombie Ward/Ghost Poro, Stormrazor, Atma's Reckoning - thank god this hasn't been added - or in the base AD buffs to every champion at the start of Season 8)

Point being: 15-90 bonus hp is terrible and needs a massive buff. Either that or completely change the stat bonuses - remove the stupid 'adaptive bonus' concept, flat AD or AP is fine without killing hybrid builds - to add more options and give us flat HP, CDR, or MS. You know, the stuff we used to have in the runes from season 7.

I like getting one shot. shut up munson you and your big brain comments. psssh. I'm getting the feeling that you want to be a tank player this season. just play jax. build dmg like everyone else. but when you ult, you'll get a fuck ton of resists for free :^D

Have to remember they did give a fuck ton of flat stat bonuses to champions at the beginning of season 8 to compensate for runes being lost, one of those being HP per lvl.

There would be a lot more health in that shard if a huge amount of it didn't already go into champions directly.

I think it's fine this way, flat HP runes have always only been an early level cheese strategy and were somewhat mandatory thanks to that when laning. They could buff the HP/lvl it gives but honestly as a jungle main armor is SO MUCH more valuable to me that I don't care either way.
