movespeed caps make it so dashes are way more powerful than MS steroids.

if movespeed stat caps were removed, then immobile champs will have a chance to actually build some sort of mobility.

instead there are explicit MS caps that make it so champs can't even build mobility, they're stuck with what they have, and if that means they're trash tier, so be it, cuz there has to be champs in trash tier.

Tell that to Hecarim.

The ability to leap walls is what makes dashes more powerful than steroids.

Movement soft caps. At 415 MS, you get 80% effect from further increases to MS. At 490 MS, you get 50% effect from further increases to MS (so when your MS is worth 508.75, your MS is 490 and you hit the seconds MS cap, halving all increases in MS after that).

And yet, people can regularly break 1000 MS on champs with MS-based mobility.

Just to clarify, sight range is 1200, so moving at 1000 means that you're almost reaching the fog of war within 1 second.

There's a very good reason why people will always take Homeguard over Distortion with Teleport.

Anyway, on the subject of MS versus Dashes/Blinks, it's dependent on the situation and the specific dash. How far does the dash travel? What is its cooldown? Is it free-roam or targeted?

There are plenty of situations where having literally 5 more MS than your opponent helps you survive, just as often as there are situations where moving double their speed won't save you. One is not expressly, unambiguously better than the other.

I'd like to see Rito argue this one, honestly. Like, how could you defend it with mobile champions dominating the competitive play?

Thank god cc tanks are back in.

Ok so SHURIMA isn't actually giving you +40% MS. It's still giving you more than 20% haste for 4 seconds. The thing about haste buffs is that they have the binary returns of building tank vs assassins. Before a certain point, they will kill you regardless whether you build defense or not. Then at some point they can't kill you because you're too tanky. And then building more tank is useless because the can't kill you anyway. MS is the same. If you use it but still get caught, it's useless. It's infinitely useful if you can haste your team to meet the critical threshold (hello SHURIMA), and not really useful if you already can disengage and catch people insanely well to build more.

Plus it would just restrict itemization around building MS instead of focusing on other stats.

What exactly is the MS cap? I've gone pretty darned fast (Hecarim E + Homeguards + Trinity Force + Youmuu's active) and it seems each thing I activate is adding speed... At a certain point the cap might be there just to prevent champions from appearing to flash all over the place and being near impossible for most players to keep track of?

The MS floor is a different issue entirely... it's basically there to say a slow is not a root. So combo'ing slows will never be a root. The problem I have with it are the 99% slows, because they basically are slows that are immune to being countered with MS boosts (as either way you'll be at the floor) which just doesn't help clarity. Like oh, Thresh's ult just slowed me down, the obvious logical response is to use what I have to regain speed so I can continue escaping - except instead I just wasted whatever MS boost I had while it was useless.

the MS floor should also be removed, so that MS boosts actually are meaningful and slows actually mean something other than immobiles are still screwed either way. You get slowed 99% by Thresh ult? Stand still (or lol dash away as every favored champ can do nowadays).

the MS cap is any MS over 410 is reduced by 20% and MS over 500 is reduced by 50% (I believe).

Oh god, no. That would be horrible. You would literally give Nasus a point and click slow that now turns into a pseudo root for the last 2 seconds, which is even worse to play against. At least with the floor you always know you can move at least 110 units a second (...which is 1.1 teemo's; hardly a far distance), instead of being slowed to literally not moving.

MS FLOOR MUST REMAIN

and then the enemy remembers "oh right Nasus is bad in league of mobility" and dashes over a wall.

Multiplicative speed boosts completely ignore the MS soft cap, by the way This includes Hecarim Rammus MasterYi 's movement speed steroids.
