Let's NOT Talk About What the Server Change Is Responsible For...

and instead about companies like CenturyLink, who use their regional monopolies as an excuse to keep people like myself from experiencing functional internet. I live in Lewis County, Washington, with internet speeds of UP TO 2 down and .75 up. You know what's worse? I live at the end of the line out in the country, and the nearest town has internet speeds that are a fraction of what I have...

So, why am I venting here? Because my influence alone means nothing. Either I swallow the pill of a monopolizing and exceedingly greedy internet provider, or I don't get internet at all. I come here in the hopes that RIOT hears my cry and knows of something they could do to improve the experiences of people like me. This is not about a server change, this is about Riot improving our experience and gaining the limelight for standing up to unfair business practices. In a time where players are trickling over to Overwatch, Riot fighting our fight for us may be just the thing to keep people invested in League of Legends.

Now for you, fellow summoners, there is no vote for you to cast. The only thing I ask of you is to share the tales of your dealings with internet providers. Thank you for reading, and good night!

Sincerely, Paladin

oh, that change was fantastic for me.

I've not had many issues since. 33 ping is such a sexy thing. I click.. and things happen right away how amazing is that

Your empathy leaves me completely and utterly...depressed. 800-2000 ping... The only thing that the server change did was change which coast can actually play the game. The West Coast's lag is terrible even on fibre-optic (the few times I got to play on it I had constant spikes of 5000).

You think Riot gives a damn? As long as you spend money, they couldn't care less about anything you think or do.

Besides, "fighting our fight" would cost the company money, and neither Beck nor our GLORIOUS Asian overlord Ma would allow that, since there's no income potential in it.

I'm glad to see that you're optimistic about the future, Eeyore.

Don't have much reason to be optimistic about much of anything these days. Besides, pessimism doesn't have anything to do with it. Just letting you know that Riot really doesn't give a damn, and never will until they lose money.

They already did when they changed maps? Basically the new 3D models are less convoluted and hence they can be loaded quickly and without putting so much stress on your PC. At the same time they are considerable smaller and hence require less bandwidth to download.... the patches are still awfully long at it takes ages with slow internet to update thou.

I'm currently live on El Salvador where anything close to decent internet cost around half of minimum wage, for Americans it woudl be something like paying $600.00 for 10 Mbps Internet. (To us it cost $110 but our wages are obviously lower). The everyday people internet is the same as you 2 Mbps per $20. My advice, stick to an Ethernet cable and don't try to play out of the wi-fi since you will lose too many packages.

And from the business perspective....try to see if verizon or some other internet company is looking for investors and try to get some sort of partnership with them so you can set up some sort of competitor to beat the monopoly, if not sign petitions, I know a lot of the internet company woudl open a branch if enough people sign that they woudl switch if they were to open one
