This is why I don't like sated devourer

Sated Devourer, like most (if not all) % increase items, is too strong. Here is basically everything it makes too strong:

Items:

  • item 3091 deals 126 magic damage instead of 84 over 2 attacks
  • item 3153 deals 30% current life physical damage and heals for 3% current life over 2 attacks
  • item 3115 deals 45 (+45% AP) magic damage instead of 30 (+30% AP) over 2 attacks
  • item 3042 deals 18% current mana physical damage instead of 12% over 2 attacks
  • item 3085 multiplies everything by 300%

Champions:

  • Aatrox W heals a ridiculous amount of life or melts people
  • Akali passive makes AP Akali a living nightmare. She does not even need AD.
  • Caitlyn passive in bushes makes every other shot a headshot
  • Chogath Vorpal Spikes are extremely cray cray
  • Draven Spinning Axes are applied twice and can crit
  • Fizz Seastone Trident active gets a huge buff, but thank god they fixed on-hit max health
  • Gnar Hyper is every other attack, and rage builds faster
  • Irelia Hiten Style passive is increased, but the big thing is the bonus true damage during the active
  • Jax "Grandmaster's Might" becomes "Grandmaster's Supremacy" as he deals 220+70% ap every other attack
  • Jinx Fishbones explodes twice every other attack, effectively granting her a bonus (current attack speed) * 50%. It is STUPID.
  • Kalista Rend stacks 50% faster. Everybody loves rend stacks!
  • Kayle Holy Ferver stacks fully very quickly. Additionally, E damage is straight-up increased by 50%.
  • MasterYi Double Strike procs every 3-4 attacks. Alpha Strike cooldown proc is 50% faster (with a bonus faster for double-strike procs). And Wuju Style active is crazy op stupid
  • MissFortune Impure Shots gets fully-stacked really fast and applies damage 50% more frequently, so it hits harder and faster
  • Nautilus Titan's Wrath deals a lot of on-hit damage
  • Nocturne Umbra Blades goes off like a machine gun
  • Orianna No reason not to attack with Orianna -- full stacks in 2 attacks and does a lot of damage
  • Pantheon Pantheon, aka Sir Blocksalot
  • Shaco With Hallucinate is kind of funny, but admittedly he needs other on-hit items to make it shine. That said, on-hit shaco is stupid with Sated.
  • Shyvana Burnout + Flame Breath. You deal 25% burnout + 2.5% max hp damage per proc
  • Skarner Crystal Slash works really well. Extremely well.
  • TahmKench Passive on ult does a ton of damage
  • Thresh On-hit thresh is back! Unfortunately, he still can't use Runaan's due to the attack speed slow bug
  • Udyr TIger Stance! Phoenix Stance! Stupidity!
  • Twitch Ok i can't say this one with a straight face, but he does stack his true damage faster.
  • Varus Blighted Quiver fully-stacks in 2 attacks, applies really quickly. 2 attacks, R, 2 attacks, E, 2 attacks, Q. If they aren't dead, you aren't ap varus!
  • Vayne Silver Bolts every 2nd attack! Yay max hp % true damage!
  • Vi Denting Blows every 2nd attack! Yay max hp % physical damage!
  • Volibear His ult + sated = ridonculusness. He will kill your entire team. Plus he stacks frenzy in 2 attacks.
  • Warwick I actually don't think WW is as bad with this -- it isn't like the old version where his ult would insta-gib people. That said, he procs his lifesteal/damage thing really fast XinZhao This has really good synergy with Battle Cry and also Three Talon Strike. True story. And by really good synergy, I mean it is stupid as hell.

Ok those are basically the reasons I hate sated devourer. Also note, people don't have to jungle to stack it now. Since kills, assists, monster assists, and dragon/baron assists are all worth stacks now, anyone can stack it to 30! Yay!

Correction, you're making points on people that WOULD be stupid, looking at your match history you havent SUCCESSFULLY tried any of these yourself, this is just a flame post because it's GOOD (NOT BROKEN) on a FEW champions.

What i believe is happening is you're frustrated because you've lost 11 ranked games in a row and need something to blame

That being said, building devourer means sacrificing durability and praying that your team can make do by themselves because you'll be farming all game.

I had hip surgery in late April and haven't enjoyed ranked since. I'm not looking to blame anyone for that.

An item that is unquestionably better than anything else in the game and will win it once completed is a bad idea. Arguments about "you shouldn't let that happen" don't really work well.

Sated Devourer is far from the END-ALL ITEM GGWPFF20REPORTMYTEAMFORJAXFEED. It revolves around a farm-centric playstyle that happens to include map control (taking scuttle and drag). Far better than feral flare which was completely farm dependent and ore overpowered. If a devour jungle is getting stupid strong early, it means your map play needs work, step upthe vision game, or your jungle pick struggles with early pressure, or maybe the team is feeding. But I see everything in the current jungle meta, just because yi and shyv can excel in it with a power item, doesn't mean that they can just insta-win. So much else goes into a game besides Jax got his jungle item gg.

Just gonna give my thoughts on this here from what I've seen or have been told by higher ranked players.

I'll start with the Sated ADCs you mentioned. Are they extremely op if they get Sated? Absolutely. However if an ADC with Devourer smite gets Sated, that's your own team's fault. ADCs have no dueling potential in the jungle, so if the enemy has a jg ADC your jg better be counter jungling all game. Now if the enemy team's ADC takes smite in lane, your bot lane needs to pressure and bully the hell out of them because that's a wasted slot for a summoner spell in lane, even worse if they start with a Hunter's Machete (I've seen it happen and it never ends well). The actual odds of an ADC getting Sated Devourer is extremely low if their enemy has a smart team. If the enemy ADC leaves to farm their jg, force team fights. A team without an ADC in a teamfight will be lacking a large portion of its power.

Another thing about taking Devourer, it sacrifices early game lane pressure and power for late game snowballing. Devourer is extremely weak compared to other smite items early on. Unless you're playing a heavy bruiser jungler you're going to be extremely susceptible to counter jungle, so devourer on squishy junglers is very risky. This will be even worse if the enemy jungler happens to be a bruiser who isn't going for Devourer. Now if you so happen to be able to safely farm the gold for the item + 30 stacks, the fastest you could possibly do that is around 20mins I believe, and that's if you get Dragon and the scuttles. In that amount of time what will have happened to your lanes? The enemy jungler will be applying pressure to lanes, if any of the enemy lanes get ahead in kills they will start snowballing, and if a jungler with Devourer tries to gank and doesn't get any kills out of it or they die, they become even farther behind than if they had another smite item. If a jungler isn't Sated by around 30-35 mins then the game might as well be a 4v5.

Now, excluding some of the tankier Devourer junglers you mentioned, hard cc will deal with most of those champs if they manage to get Sated. I see so many team comps that don't have any hard cc at all. Then they complain when a Yi or Katarina runs a train through their team. You should always have a team comp with some form of hard cc in case of champ picks like that. Sure this may be harder to predict in blind pick, but draft pick/ranked this should be important. If you see someone lock in Yi or Katarina, you're gonna need a comp with hard cc. Even Kayle can be cc'd during her ultimate.

The only junglers you mentioned whom I've heard lots of complaints about and seen become unstoppable are Vi, Shyvanna, Jax, and Udyr. These junglers take a large amount of cc and armor/magic pen to deal with once Sated. They're hard to duel in the jungle so counter jungling isn't much of an option unless you bring 2 or 3 people. They have insane clear times, which makes counter jungling even harder. They are also very tanky without having to build tanky(of in Jax's case he can dodge all auto attacks).

If anybody has anything else to add I'm open to discussion. I don't really see this item as being the overpowered team annihilating item everyone makes it out to be. I've had junglers let all our lanes fall saying "don't worry once I get Sated we got this!", then they get Sated and still get destroyed. I've seen junglers go Devourer then get counter jungled or die a few times and just become useless for the rest of the game. So from my experience the people who go Devourer tend to do more harm to their own team than to the enemy team. The only times I see it work out well is if the enemy team has no hard cc to stop a Sated jungler, or the Sated jungler's team is already snowballing ahead in lanes without them.

The great irony is that he says it seems fine on Warwick, but the data suggests that of all the champs who use it, Warwick is among the strongest with it.

Sated Devourer is fine, except on a few champions (fuck Kayle).
