A thought on Gangplank
What does GP pack, as a champion, of unique and particular to his team? Analyzing his kit he has:
- A passive that slows on autos and provides a weak magic DoT (actually quite interesting in the early game, but that's that), which can be found in
and
, kinda; - A Q that is a melee ranged autoattack, which is tactically interesting but mechanically similar to a simple ranged autoattack
- A W that is comparable to a
or a
(yeah, Mikaels doesn't remove suppressions but that's not the point) - An E that is completely uninteresting and imperceptible (the MS buff is really too small to even be noticeable), and that can be offered by
and
/
- An R that is special, fun and even strong, I might say, but not enough in itself to justify a Gangplank pick.
I'm not saying that if there's a similarity between a skill and an item, that skill's champ sucks, but when you have a guy whose kit is mostly replaceable by items in terms of what he offers to his team, you may have a problem. Let's be clear, I love him, and still have lots of fun playing him, but if I must judge kit-wise, I can't totally disagree from those who claim he's garbage or "weaker than a cannon minion" (I always laugh when they say it xD).
I think of him as a fighter with an autoattack reset that can crit and the option to skip boots in favor of an extra item slot (thanks to his E and the MS boost from
), but then again, most people still build boots on him and prefer
to Critplank, so... dunno.
I hope the rework will give him more mechanically unique power.
