I think Cass will be so much better if Riot gave us a minimum-maximum range for her W. Like have the max range be what it is now, but have the minimum range be about half way between herself and max range. To balance it out, maybe have it go in a cone formation, so the further you cast it the wider the spread. That change alone will make her feel so much better with this new kit. Not being able to adjust your W's range is the only thing that I don't like about her.

what if they made it a channeled ability that increased range while channeled. Not a long channel but say 0-1 sec channel from close to far cast?

I'd rather just have a minimum-maximum distance than it being a channel ability, even the shortest of channels can get interrupted when you need them the most

right but if you think about when you need a close range cast it would usually be the need for the instant while when you are trying to chase you have time to channel I think the channel is the best way to create the counter play and diversity for the use of the move

Yeah but that doesn't help you if you're in the middle of nowhere like the wide width of mid-lane or in the river.

Riot has their mind made up on this ability and they are not going to change it. It does what it is suppose to, poison a whole team with it massive aoe so you can E anyone in it. You just have to be careful on how to use it. That said, it can't be used as a defense anymore, so get more CDR for your ult to be up more.
