But we decided to not make duskblade melee only even though historically at least one champ from another class that was unintended to use it has proved to break items like it. Now vayne is out bursting everything and there is no real counterplay since it is true damage and her stealth counter was removed.
Anonagon17 votesonce again, Vayne's ability to assassinate targets is loaded in crit Tumbles, not in Duskblade The item isn't busted on her, its just that when you already have Shiv and IE and you want to maximize the damage of a single Q, a BF Sword item is pretty good, and hey, Duskblade adds extra damage on top of that! If you want Vayne not to have absolutely stupid burst, then the solution isn't "make a item she buys but isn't completely necessary for her melee only, closing off potential itemization options for other champions" The solution is to make her Q damage not crit and/or to reduce the AD she gets from her ultimate

However, the ability for her to stack Lethality does exacerbate her ability to make squishy targets explode though, so adding Duskblade into the equation certainly hasn't helped. Not because of Duskblade's Unique Passive, mostly because of the other stats it brings.

Vayne is probably the only unintended case that might use it, Twitch and Quinn (the other two I can see using it) are Marksmen assassins so it makes sense for them to build it at least some of the time. Especially on Quinn, who traditionally builds somewhat assassin-like due to her strong single-target burst making her a very effective assassin but mediocre crit marksman.
There's absolutely no reason for Riot to completely remove legitimate buildpaths because of one abuse case, especially when duskblade is just the icing on the burst damage cake for Vayne.
Apocalypsic1 votesQuinn gets some pretty insane damage with crit, and considering Harrier scales with crit I've finally honestly moved off of the armor pen items now that they got changed to that garbage lethality stuff.
I'd rather spike in the midgame with something like essence/phantomdancer than have stats that basically exist to PREVENT snowballing.
VoidStaresBack1 votesShe does get good stats from crit, but the way her damage is set up it's very heavily single-target focused and makes her a strong assassin as well, on to of her mobility and scouting abilities allowing her to quickly find and eliminate isolated targets. I tend to build somewhat of a hybrid of the two to make me useful after my assassination is completed.

If she gets out of laning phase and starts rolling while you're adc has no beefy peel and/or defensive item then yeah it'll seem OP and uncounterable

It's unseen passive requires a) you have a good tool for getting unseen, but only Vayne and Twitch have stealth mechanics. (I might build it on Twitch, but not vayne) and b) it requires that you stack up more Lethality for it to scale. Which again, makes it more attractive to assassins, and a little less so to the DPS.

Quinn's Q just makes one champion nearsighted. That item is much more situational for Quinn than for Vayne. Pls don't make up stuff.

Fed champions always will jump on you out of nowhere and kill you. Same could be said about a fed Master Yi, fed Kled and many other champs with high mobility.

Not hard with her ult's stealth.
Unless you want to burst that first attack, you do more damage simply attacking early out of stealth with how Vayne works. You have less than 1.0 attack speed, and Silver Bolts means you want to attack as often as possible.

RavenMagus1 votesProblem is ADCs burst even faster than that. It's not just Vayne either; Caitlyn or Twitch or Ezreal or MF or Draven will all kill you in under a second late game.
Personally I think it's a problem when ADCs are better assassins than actual assassins.
TeCoolMage1 votesYeah, mages, supports, tanks and assassins are all on par with each other IMO, with the exception of the few mages who burst too quick (Annie and Syndra), supports who discourage lane interaction (Janna and Soraka, who are actually well balanced now to be fair), assassins with tiny burst times (Probably assassins that weren't in the rework), and tanks that have too much damage on top of their CC (I don't know... Trundle?)
It's the ADCs who are the problem
