Your thoughts on Aatrox?

I've been very curious lately about Aatrox's state in the game. Ever since his rework, there has been a loooot of controversy when talking about him: a great part of the community considered/considers him as a pretty bad pick because of his flaw-full kit and another huge portion wanted to put him on a cross since day one because of some of his unfair mechanics. As of now, the 9.2 nerfs hit him really bad, turning him from a decently picked / decently winning solo laner to one of the worsts in terms of winrate even with his still very high pick rate.

Of course, my opinion is kinda biased towards Aatrox; I enjoyed playing him a lot before his rework and I still played him a decent amount after it hit live. Even if since his rework he only ping-ponged between big nerfs and big buffs to try to keep his stat-check kit balanced, I always felt like the rework was badly made in general. In short, it made the champion unsatisfying to play as, unsatisfying to play against and incredibly useless as a pick in certain situations or against certain teams. Of course, maybe I'm completely wrong on this, but what do you think about Aatrox's state and what should be done about him?
