Are free passive stats part of every new kit now?

This was kind of a troll post but i should probably explain a bit better. Im not talking about passive skills in general. Im talking about passive skills that "dont match" the skill they are assigned to.

Rek's ult. Why is atk spd thrown on that? What does it have to do with her ult of moving to tunnels?

Zed's w giving extra ad: why is that the part of his kit it is attached to or why does it exist at all?

Which kit(s) are you even complaining about? You haven't really bothered to specify anything in your post, define what you consider to be passive stats, or why they shouldn't be used.

Anyways, passive stats have been on champions for a long time. As examples: Akali Chogath Darius DrMundo Fiddlesticks Galio Gangplank Garen Graves Irelia Janna Jax Jinx Kassadin Kayle KogMaw LeeSin Leona Malphite MasterYi Morgana Nasus Nunu Nocturne Olaf Poppy Rammus Riven Ryze Sejuani Singed Skarner Taric Thresh Tristana Trundle Tryndamere Fiora Udyr Twitch TwistedFate Varus Vayne Veigar Vladimir Warwick MonkeyKing XinZhao Yasuo Zed

I don't even want to hazard a guess at how many champions with passive stats in their kit I've missed.

Yeah, I'm actually sort of curious. This was the prevailing trend for Season 2 bruisers, but the "stat ball" champion release frequency has died down considerably since the J4 / Riven / Irelia / Trundle / Nocturne days of competing to see who got the most free stuff.

reks ult: she has this abiltiy that aoes per attack and she can get devourer and bork. (since most ppl would build bork as the only dmg item on rek, it seems useless to give any otehr stats and no stats wont be able to compete with all the stat champs already existing, especially with nonexistant damage. zed: hes a fking assassin. thsi one is rlly obv.

Rek'sai has AS on her ult mostly to prevent it from being a one-point-wonder ability. A lot of champs have abilities that are strictly utility, and often they are maxed last. That's fine for something like Pantheon's stun or Lee's Safeguard, but for an Ultimate, it makes it unsatisfying to not want to rank it up every time. If the only thing that changes is the cooldown, it's not unreasonable to delay maxing it till last.

As for Zed's shadow, I guess it's so that the most iconic part of his kit is worth levelling beyond just the one point. I'm not quite as sure about that.
