Spoiled bot lane strategy

I just had this idea so I thought I'd throw it out there to see what you thought about it. If it's been done before, tell me how it went. If not, try it out.

Basically you go Gangplank ADC and pretty much any melee as support.

Now, here is the kicker.

You both run Relic Shield.

Right away you have a total of 4 charges of Spoils of War (hence the name) where you share 100% of the gold and heal each other.

When you upgrade to Targon's you get 6.

That's pretty much 100% gold for both players from the whole wave.

This could be huge!

Gangplank has good zone pressure and his own sustain. He can also poke with his Q and his barrels.

This strategy would offer the opportunity to play just about any melee champion AS support because they would be able to equally share the gold efficiency of a solo lane (actually, they would have the opportunity to net even more. Most melee champions are designed to be able to take a little damage and sustain to survive in lane.

So I don't see how they would be poked out of lane if they play relatively safe early on until their bankroll gets started.

Ya this isn't really a new idea. There are alot of combos you can try this on.

I've seen a lot of bruiser bot combos with some combination of the above champions. Sometimes they do alright. The issue is you pretty much have to win hard early on, as you get outscaled badly in the late game.

I'm not sure I see how you would get outscaled because you will have an ADC and a support, each with the gold of a solo lane, .. if not more.

Gangplank is especially effective at increasing his own gold efficiency.

The enemy ADC will outscale a bruiser attempting to fill the role of an ADC. Outscaling doesn't mean they obtain more gold than you, it means they use the same amount of gold more effectively then you later on in the game.

This isn't a new strat actually. Plenty of duo melee botlaners will do this. I've seen a Rengar/Thresh botlane both take that. Or a Panth/Darius both with relic.

Even Blitz/Alistar with both relic.

It's just not as effective early game, and you can get easily beat if your opponent is a high ranged champ like Cait or Jhin. You can lose pretty quick if you aren't careful, and can be outfarmed if you both aren't good enough farming under towers.

This only works if you already have a champ in another lane who is ranged, and if your jungler helps you out in the early game so you both don't fall behind quickly. If your whole team is melee you're going to lose pretty hard :P

I think the major factor that contributes to the strength that I am referring to is specifically using Gangplank as the ADC.

He is particularly effective at maximizing his gold income and he is one of, if not the only melee champion who can actually be considered an actual ADC.

its a hell of a lot easier if you just make it a double hook double relic shield thresh and blitz double whammy wombo combo

It was a strat when Mordekaiser got reworked and would go bot lane.

The big reason this isn't done more is your seiging and ability to take towers is really bad. Teams with effective wave clear can completely stall any push you make and the only real way to break their base is baron.

If you have a ranged marksman in top or jungle though you might be able to make it work.
