Elo RESETs

When do you guys think league will realize they need a hard elo reset instead of a soft reset like they do every season? there are people stuck in certain elos due to trolls and ragers and feeders, and I am one of them. I'm not great at this game. But something is wrong when i play a game and win lane/roam/farm/and get kills and end up 13/5 with 395 farm, 4 towers to my name, but my team loses because they rage or feed or just wont communicate. I'm tired of this. I get the feeling everyone's response will be oh play this or that champion. but this game shouldn't be about playing champions like fiora or shyvana, sheerly for the 'carrying out of bronze' potential. Those of you who agree, lets make our voice heard. I'm sure there are others who have had this same thought, and I'll be the one to voice it. Bronze is the quicksand. the harder you try to escape, the harder it is to get out. No game should be so elitist that the elite players can sit in the same divisions for their entire career, and to hell with the rest of us. I would go as far as to say this ranking system is tilted toward ranking inertia, with bronze at least. Make no mistake, I don't have illusions of grandeur, I make misplays every game, and i miss cs, i die stupidly. Regardless of this, no one should be cursed to stay here. I've climbed from b5 to b3 or b2 three times and every time i get trolled back down to the dregs of league. Look at my summoner profile. Tell me, why is it i should be forced into the true elo hell?

Roam more (which requires warding a lot more). If you're truly getting ahead and winning Lane (and the poor KDAs people are pointing out is because you get killed a lot late due to bad teammates, understandable as it happens any game where 2+ teammates fail badly) then you need to initiate mid game sooner. Take that lead from Lane early game, and since it sounds like you're a solo laner you'll have an xp lead on the map in addition to your gold lead, and roam mid to get them ahead. Ward the enemy jungle and get picks in their jungler with your jungler. Teleport bot Lane and get them ahead with a good gank.

If you're ahead in Lane and your teammates aren't ahead, your focus should be getting them caught up or ahead. It's worth losing your t1 turret top if it stops mid from feeding 5 kills and losing t2 turret at 16 min. Even more worth if you secure a kill for mid and get him rolling so he can be relevant the whole game.

I've found the games where I feel I carried the hardest are when I start scoring more kills in other lanes than against my Lane. When at the end the other team says our while team was smurfs when really my teammates were all losing Lane until I gave them help and started to snowball them. 99% of players are really good with a lead, they just pay like they have a lead when behind and that's why they generally aren't good.

  • Have 130 creep in 29! minutes. You should strive to be in the hundreds of whatever time it is (i.e. 100 farm at at least 14 minutes, 200 at 23 minutes) Then you'll only get better with cs. I know you went top that game, but ranged champs have an easier time with cs.

I would say this is bad advice cause it's all relative. you can't cs well in every game, cause you need to react to what the other team does.

Just make sure when you CAN cs, you don't miss them. (some games I miss 4 cannon minions in a row while free farming).

On a note - most of my games by 40 mins, people have 200+ farm. 150 or so at 30 mins.

2 / 10 / 2 as quinn, I assume top. Your team comp is godawful.

1 / 15 / 10 as taric, no sightstone, and judging by the high number of deaths, you probably need the vision more than anything else.

7 / 15 / 13 as mordekaiser high number of deaths

6 / 11 / 1 As nocturne - no jungle item,

1 / 5 / 8 as nasus - wtf is that build? you want CDR, why do you have a ravenous hydra? why?

13 / 5 / 7 - as mord seems fine.

5 / 18 / 7 - as talon - why do you have a muramana?

12 / 16 / 6 as lissandra - Personally I think rod of ages is the biggest waste of gold in the game and no one should buy it.

6 / 13 / 19 as amumu - no jungler item, mejais? why?

Nah I'd rather not play against challenger level players in my provisional level games sending me to bronze making what you are are complaining about worse. hurr durr either way I have gotten my main and 2 smurfs out of bronze it isnt hard its on you. If you cant get out of bronze you probably belong their.

Your idea has 0 logic.

Elo hell is a make believe place bad players refer to when they aren't good enough to climb in ranked, it doesn't exist.

gunblade gives you your primary resource, as does the item you get first back, hextech revolver. the spell vamp heals him for more than he takes using spells. when you build into hextech you stay in lane longer, and can recover from trades you take as morde. you also get 40 AP from the hextech for 1200 gold, along with the spell vamp. at level 5, which is generally when i back first in midlane, if not level 4, i have 1500 gold or more, so i can get hextech revolver, and even pots or wards if needed. his early game does not suffer from buying hextech revolver, it excels, as anyone whom has mastered his kit can tell you. i honestly see no greater benefit. morde is a health-coster, so early health regen and sustain is a must. his shield is how you win trades early, so your order is always eqwqer for abilities, you get a potential of damage level 2 from your q of about 600, on multiple targets. at a conversion rate of 35% that's about 220, or a full shield. when you add hextech revolver, you heal for the health cost when you hit a minion and have another ~80 damage tacked onto that total. morde is my main and i intimately know his scaling and capabilities.

I used to be b4 now i'm s2 hoping for gold. The only way you can get out of bronze is to carry yourself out or have a pretty damn good duo. Bot lane isn't doing too well roam help camp their lane w/e it takes. On a losing streak? take a break n never play a champ just to counterpick! especially when you're not tht comfortable with them. If your team is counterpicking tell them not to.I remember I had a game where a guy picked jax n never used him b4 he went 1/16 gg wp games like this I couldn't carry because I was a support. Also try to get carrying roles like jg, adc,mid that's how I got out once I stopped playing sup so much.

better off getting armor on nasus instead of lifesteal (cause he already has via passive).

I'm a fan of ionian boots on nasus + frozen heart for max cdr.

man screw this Poll .... ELO HEL IS REAL...but why would you want to leave lol. I love being B5 for life. Its so easy to murder people. if i moved up in elo it would mean i would start getting owned again. I work 40 hours a week an am married and i understand enough about the game to carry a team and get fed but i have no aspiration to make it to the top of the LoL ranked ladders. A hard reset would mean i get all new smurf / hard people to play...let me beat up on baddies like myself please.

Thanks for your comments all, I am clearly far outnumbered, but that's fine. as it is, I'm once again in b3 promos, thanks in large part to KingDcoy.

When do you guys think league will realize they need a hard elo reset instead of a soft reset like they do every season?

Never. Hard reset makes no sense whatsoever... it would also make games too random for the upcoming months that the ranked would literary be unplayable. I'm not sure you even know what you are talking about here, or at the very least, not thinking clearly about the ramifications a hard reset would cause.

there are people stuck in certain elos due to trolls and ragers and feeders, and I am one of them. I'm not great at this game.

You are there because you belong there and because like you said, you are not great at this game. You cannot get stuck in this game... you either go up or you go down. Simple as that.

But something is wrong when i play a game and win lane/roam/farm/and get kills and end up 13/5 with 395 farm, 4 towers to my name, but my team loses because they rage or feed or just wont communicate. I'm tired of this.

Happens in every elo bro.

but this game shouldn't be about playing champions like fiora or shyvana, sheerly for the 'carrying out of bronze' potential.

Unfortunately it is, more or less... for example, you could play Urgot all day if you wanted to, however with that champ it would be extremely difficult to climb the ladder.

No game should be so elitist that the elite players can sit in the same divisions for their entire career, and to hell with the rest of us.

Can you even name one single game, video or IRL where they put "noobs" and professional players to the same pool? I don't think there is such game... or if there were, it certainly wouldn't be a balanced one. For balance reasons, people who are bad and people who are good are kept separate to ensure balanced games, lulz.

Regardless of this, no one should be cursed to stay here.

And no one is. If you are good enough, you will climb out of Bronze eventually. You will not stay there unless you belong there. Period.

Tell me, why is it i should be forced into the true elo hell?

There is no such thing as "elo hell" ... it doesn't exist. Please, just get better at the game. Try to focus on staying alive for example and consider every game where you died more than 5 times a failure.

Well, all the judging aside. I wish there was option at the beginning of a season to choose to hard or soft reset. Obviously anyone in higher tiers will opt to soft reset. If you hard reset make it so your placement matches are total of 20 games and the highest you can place is Silver I.

I personally jumped into ranked waaay too early in season 3 when I started playing which landed me in Bronze V. I thought the soft reset going into season 4 was a little bit 'harder' so I worked hard on those promotion matches, won 7 out of 10...and was placed in Bronze V. I know I could climb out of Bronze eventually, but the eventually is the part that really turns me off to it. I feel like majority of the time I have to pick support or one of the people picking after me will just troll support and not actually support. It just feels so tedious...

This is the very thing i have happen, only i won 8 of 10 games, placed bronze 5 season 4 after being in bronze 4 in season 3. at the very least, they should be more transparent with their 'MMR' system. it clearly differs from elo. i personally don't belive this game is skill based. not in low tiers. who seriously knows what MMR is? riot employees? If i knew what really affected my LP per game and how placement worked i would know what to focus on improving. i will digress and say ive climbed to b1, further proof of the quicksand-like nature of bronze. i had to tryhard every single game i won, and even then just two days ago when i got into b1, i had another game that i went 24/8/11 259 farm and 20k gold, and the whole reason we lost is the team had no map awareness and walked into fights 1 by 1. this is the sort of thing id like to see go away. i posted this when i was in bronze 4 after another troll game and since then ive promoted 5 times, and demoted twice. im sitting at bronze 1, about to hit silver. do you guys think that MMR should be more transparent?

Diljic11/17/2014, 2:30:02 AM1 votes

I make misplays every game, and i miss cs, i die stupidly.

As soon as you fix this you won't be stuck in bronze.

If i knew what really affected my LP per game and how placement worked i would know what to focus on improving.

There is no magic in game KDA, wards placed, champion picked bullet that has anything to do with LP gain. It is entire based on winning (or losing) and the average MMR of your team vs the opposing team. If you go against higher rated teams and win you will gain more LP/MMR and also lose less. If you go against a team that the system thinks you should beat (you are the higher rated team) you will gain less for a win and lose more for a loss. Repeat this over and over.

Sordani11/18/2014, 11:49:46 PM1 votes

thats post placement. how does the placement even affet your ranking? i won 80% of my placements and got bronze 5 after being in 4 in season 3. so not only did i lose mmr somehow, but i dropped a division regardless of a high winrate in my placements. how can that possibly be a fair system?

Sordani11/21/2014, 12:57:53 PM1 votes

Really the best course after a bit or research is to bring back to tribunal and impose real punishments to trolls. toxicity/raging/intentionally feeding should be more than just a slap on the wrist chat restriction or temp ban, i want to see a 3 strike policy on toxicity and intentionally feeding, as both ruin the game for others. that wouls reduce the main thing i see in bronze, which are the trolls that say 'hahahahahaah report me noob, they won't do anything'. and without a combined 4 person report they simply don't. its rather irritating that our community is plauged by this type of troll and we have no real way of getting their bad behaviour up the chain to riot. muting them works, but they don't need to be doing this either way. it damages the overall experience.

HalloweenDeath11/4/2014, 5:37:03 PM1 votes

The "No, I like my division" on the poll is stupid. Just No will work. Elo hell doesn't exist your elo fits you 99.99% of the time. Just because you play ranked a lot doesn't mean you deserve to be promoted. Having a troll or a shitty player on the map actually raises your elo because there is a bigger chance he will be on the enemy team and not yours because there is 5 possible slots for the enemy team and 4 for yours because your accounted for. I've looked at your match history and 99% of the games you went negative and your blaming trolls. If you're truely better then your elo says you are then even if there is a troll in every single game you should be going positive every time but you will lose but looking through your games that's not the case. You play ranked to improve and go up the latter and every loss game you learn more then when you won a game. If you are improving you will climb the latter even with trolls.

AS to my reasoning with quinn and morde, i have been playing morde since late s3, and I believe that i am genuinely good with him. not great, but good enough to win lane 90% of the time, to cs highly. Quinn on the other hand is admittedly a challenger copycat from zionspartan. I player her in probably a hundred normals and mastered her kit and took her to ranked. When you refer to straightforward champions, do you mean lee sin(ray charles), or some list im not aware of?
