I called since season 2 for a role select prior to champion select, and last year, you finally delivered. now, i come back to league to find out you gutted picking lanes, defeating the whole purpose of picking your lanes, by adding autofill. i didn't want to play support, so I didn't select support, and yet this damned 'feature' is throwing people into positions we didn't choose because your system cannot account for the uneven queue times. why, precisely, did you bring out lane picking if you were just going to undermine the whole point later that year?

And since Season 2 there have been people pointing out that an absolute role select like you described would destroy queue times.

And when Riot implemented it, it destroyed queue times.

So they're doing what they can to compromise those goals.

by basically making it so that you don't get the roles you select because people are impatient? its one thing to have the queue time reducers they had before, but totally making the selection basically null and void.. its ridiculous.

Maximum exaggeration, autofill can't take you out of your selected roles more than 50% of the time and the reality is that it does it far less often than that.

It's simple my dude, If you're not a serious LoL gamer, learn other lanes.

If you want to have your own personal role every game and you are serious about the game, make a 5 mans team and get to it.

because this leaves out the half of the game that is neither serious and premade, nor casual and able to play all lanes? some of us don't have time to make a premade and find a specified time to play. being a casual player doesn't necessitate learning other lanes, inf act the opposite does. people don't get to diamond premades by playing one lane, they learn all the roles and can fill if needed, but prefer a lane and do it. I'm not a good player, and i surely don't care about being 'pro'. I just want to come home from work and enjoy a game as a toplaner, jungler, or midlane. Thats all there is to it. plus, it actually engages me, where as before, the skill levels were more unmatched. People that 'main' a lane are generally better at them, and it makes the game more fun. Entirely subjective, but it is my opinion, and I don't expect to be received well here. Frankly there aren't enough old guard players around anymore, and for many of the reasons I'm listing. many people that played beta, like my cousin, just don't play anymore. the game isn't recognizable as league anymore. I'm getting tot he point, its always about being faster now, not about strategy, at least in my shitty elo.

learning other lanes would require playing through multiple games of toxicity for being bad at a lane, and losing. its not fun, and i surely dont care about my ranks, im a bronzie, after all.

It comes down to the fact not enough players play support.

Riot would never of implemented this system unless the player base of "roles" were move evenly distributed, but no. We basically brought this upon ourselves.

Almost nobody wants to play support (Except those of us who mains and loves it), because you never give it a chance or "it's not as exciting". Everyone wants to be the carry, doing damage, being the frontline, etc. (there's always mage supports, brand, zyra etc)

So it comes down to: Do you want to wait (probably quite a lot) for 15+ minutes to get into a champ select, OR are you willing to play a game of support to get a game done. (and get rid of autofill for like 1 or 2 (??) games)

Playing support can be just as exciting as any other roles, just the satisfaction of contributing to your team. The clutch heals and shields. Yes, it might be hard to share a lane, but once you get an adc that you just sync with it's just a good feeling. People need to get over themselves and not think that they are the center of the game, you're not, all 4 of your team members are just as important as you.

i sit through 6+ minutes anyway in queues, I was fine with longer queue times, as long as i didn't play roles that my mentality doesn't fit. to generalize, when i play support, my team loses. and Im unable to shut down the fed adc or the godlike midlaner that roams top and fuck on the trollpick ashe toplane. youre trying to make this into a false dichotomy, and frankly the game isn't fun when you just get constantly shit on. seeing as the point of the game is fun, not being 'pro' thats the point in the end, making the game less fun is a bad idea, and i dont remember rito asking the 90% of its players that arent diamond, master, or challenger if they wanted this. this is another of ritos famously bad unilateral descisions.

Well if more people enjoyed playing support and wanted to play support, we wouldn't have this problem in the first place.

Of course riot isn't going to ask, they have the statistics on the fact queue times in all elos are longer, due to the fact not enough people play support.

If people was willing to sacrifice their own needs of "me, myself and I". The game needs more support players, and frankly, I think season 7 will be the new era of the supports. Riot is trying heavily to get people to play support, to show its not the worst role in the game. It's just the fact a lot of people don't have the mindset to support.

Hopefully Riot will make a big change in the support role to make it more appealing to other people. Just play like Brand support, its so good. You get a item 2049 , and then you build pure AP like you normally would on him.

Like no offense, the fact if you had a troll pick Ashe top, its because you are b1. Don't worry, I don't think you are garbage at this game or anything, I am not trying to act like I know the best sht for everything either. I'm just stating my own opinions on the fact, if more people were willing to play support, we never would of had the issue of 'auto fill'.

We used to have a 'fill' before, when players used to say they would fill, there's not a much bigger difference, and if you were last pick, well, Support is where you end up.

I also personally think you should have at least 2-3 champions for every role. and its a bonus if 1 of them can do multiple roles, like for example Brand or Sion (since they have more than 1 role that's 'suited' for them.) You get the jig....

lol, Blitz can't really carry games to hard, like sure, you can get good picks with him but. At some points he is pretty useless.

While that's true, some parts of the problem are also caused by Riot:

Namely, the Secondary Issue: There are alot of people who are able to Support quite nicely but main other roles. But they're nearly unable to Q for Supp on regular base, because if you do... you do nothing else but Supp. That scares people away from Qing as Support.

I was a good Supp a long time ago, when gold wasn't thrown at you and it was fun, but it's funny for 1 or 2 games out of 10, not 5 or 6 (which happens when Qing as Supp or Fill second).

Of course you want to play your main role, but this is a 'Be the good citizen' kinda moment.

If there is a lack of a role, be the man/woman/it (Kindred) and play support, just ONE game, and you are safe from having to support for a few games. And if you get auto-filled into it, well, people just have to suck it up and accept that rng chose them.

Even though this isn't ranked (for me), even going support/fill I have gotten mid, jungle and top a few times, and I can't even stand toplane (All I do is feed there....item 3070)

but honestly, I just think there is a lack of 'fun' supports, not braindead supports like Janna, Sona etc. (wheres our AD support Riot??) ######I always wondered why there is no support items scaling of AD, and no support who does...

And tbh, I don't really get what you mean with "you do nothing else but sup", all I can think is just the reason people don't have a reason to think: "I want to queue up as support!" because I sometimes go: "you know, I wanna top/jungle" (my two shittiest roles lol).

Like of course it's nice not having to fight for my main role, but... I do really hope riot comes with a solution to make support more desirable. Support is the role that accepts the fact of 'not taking farm, get a gold income item blahblah' because there's only "4 lanes". People now a days is to greedy to share, always wanting to be in the spotlight.. a shame tbh... I wish it was just possible to change the midset of like at least 20% of the player base (in all ranks for that matter, not just "low elos". Didn't Scarra talk about this, something about that about being used to auto-fill.

You CAN carry from the support role though, but it's not a carry you get fame and glory for. Since you are kind of the background dancer, we appreciate them, but we don't go "wow, those background dancers were so good!" It's always "wow, x (front) dancer was so good!" lol. Now I'm ranting, ill stop <-< ...

LoL. Man you gotta look at the bods though. The makeup makes the faces hard to read, but dancer bodies don't lie. Every single one of those girls is great.

I can agree, but eh, if i were gay, id go for the cute girls, not the hot ones. They are also dressed and put makeup on to look cute, not hot though you pervert ;P Because they ARE dancing to a song used in a childrens movie lol.
