every game i do badly in i have people flaming me like "stay silver" and "report trash veigar" or whatever, it's relentless. I report people an average of 1-2 times a game but nothing happens. I get I'm supposed to play safe when I'm behind but it's not like I'm not trying it's just what are you supposed to do vs a fed leblanc or if blitzcrank hits me with like 6 max range hooks over the course of game each of which results in instant death? Yeah I'm not that good but it's just so discouraging to get constantly flamed whenever I do badly.

If someone goes AFK everyone reports and we get instant feedback. People say stuff like "they should punish AFK and feeding more than verbal abuse". But they do punish AFK because it's so easy to get 4 people to report an AFK on their team. Reporting for feeding is a horrible thing to do and really shouldn't have an impact unless they were intentionally feeding or building super troll items (like AD soraka top or whatever). Doing badly is part of playing the game, reporting people for doing badly if they don't mean to is just super discouraging and gives this game it's horrible toxic reputation.

1 report vs 4 reports...it does the same thing. Just mute the toxic players and report at the end of the game. Just because you don't see something happening doesn't mean they aren't getting punished or getting closer to a punishment because of it. Riot won't just go off and punish them for calling someone trash once but with repeated offenses then yes they will get punished. Just make sure you aren't being toxic and harassing them back because that will get you in trouble as well as them.

As for some off builds (like you bringing up AD Soraka top) if someone can do it successfully then why not? Everything was tried once and found success before it was considered strong or meta. Look at when Ezreal jungle was super popular. Or MF support to counter Zyra support. Janna was once a mid laner. Have had friends taken Blitzcrank jungle and absolutely destroyed with him. Have a bronze friend that has 100% win rate with Annie jungle. If it works, it works.
