Promo Tips?

GiraffeFactory··1 votes·1,460 views

Hey can anybody give me some tips for beating promotionals? I just had an excellent win streak but once I got to promos, I won the first game but couldn't quite get the last two. The third game was particularly bad on my part plus the negative atmosphere we as a team harbored overall.

It just feel like this is something a lot of us relate to here on the boards and was wondering anybody had some tips or advice for surviving them? Thanks!

Treat them as just regular games..... although don't dodge as its a free loss.

Do not dodge your first promo. Someone once posted it is better to dodge, but then you don't get your free win if/when you re-enter promos.

Don't pay attention to whether you're in promos or not? They're the exact same as any other games. Your MMR changes the same amount for a promo win/loss as otherwise. If you're trying to get over anxiety for it I recommend aiming to just get to the series and not worrying about it too much your first time there. You get a free win if you lose and come back in lower tiers. All the way up to gold 1 I think? Losing your promos are way less of a concern when you know you've got a freebie lined up the next time you get back there. And if you win them the first try? Bonus, your demotion protection is probably a bit stronger than usual.

If anything, I find the first free promos games LESS stressful. So yes, I would recommend going in with less worry.

You are already at your promos, this is where you want to be. You are stacked at 100LP. If you win, you promote GREAT. If you lose, hopefully you are back to like 60-80 LP which means you can get back quickly with 1-2 wins. The fact that you can get back quickly is what makes promos feel better. Although I will admit I was 1-1 in my promos yesterday. And I was scared to play it out but it worked out. But the first two games (or one on repeat) should be fun games.
