@Riot: A very easy way to solve SOME of Dynamic Queue's problems WHILE preserving it COMPLETELY

Goosetard··4 votes·714 views

Keep everything the same, but have a separate rank/mmr that is used when you play by yourself

Same queue setup. Same queue times. Same role selection. If you're in/matched with a premade, you get your dynamic queue mmr and matches affect your dynamic queue rank. If you're with/against all solo players, you get your (new) solo mmr and your matches affect your (new) solo rank.

Everyone still lives in the same queue, so Riot gets the same continuity they desperately want, and it doesn't erode queue times. People who believe that dynamic queue compromises the competitive viability of ranked get an "uncorrupted" rank, like they desperately want. People that think premades are toxic as **** get... nothing. It solves some, not all problems.

You wouldn't be able to guarantee you'll play completely solo, but, since premades are typically matched against premades, odds are if you aren't in one and aren't matched with one, you won't be against one, so playing by yourself increases your odds of being in a true solo 5 v 5 game significantly.

On the technical side, it should be trivial to have clients hold two simultaneous queue positions, and remove them from the other whenever the first one is called. This might even effectively improve queue times and (although I'm no expert) should be really easy to implement.

If you think people will manipulate the system by dodging premades until they get a 5 man solo side, have the dodge penalty include prioritizing being matched w/ premades. That won't break queue times and will discourage this behavior.

EDIT: Sorry to the reddit user fuzz22, who posted this exact idea 30 minutes ago on the thread that inspired me to have the same idea (albeit before I read the comments). I was lead to it here http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/ZEBIhuV6-a-solo-queue-and-dynamic-queue-compromise

Not trying to steal your thunder, friend :(

This. This is interesting. You're making it a lottery for soloQ players. They can get a solo rank, but when they're matched with or against solo players. As someone who supports DynamicQ, I can't find an actual arguement to this. It effectively placates the vocal minority, while unaffecting the silent majority.

The only thing I can contribute here is the suggestion that you incentivize the soloQ portion, to encourage more solo players. Especially if a single duo removes the solo ranking portion. Or just include duo's into the "soloQ" portion, since that doesn't actually change anything from last season, and makes it slightly easier for getting points towards a solo rank.

Yeah, anyone partied with anyone on either team disables the "soloQ" rank for everyone. The incentive to queue solo, if it matters to you, is that your chance to earn points on the solo ladder is 0% when not queued solo.

Er.... won't that make climbing EVEN HARDER? Since some of the time your games will go to boosting the rank of your solo rating and sometimes you'll be playing to boost your "team" rating? Also, if you're solo and you get matched with a premade, you're still at the whim of them to win or lose the game for you. Would this win/loss go on your solo rating or your team rating? Either way it seems like it wouldn't work.

It could be optional then. Since it's not affecting matchmaking at all, only the results, it could be left up to the player.

So then you have two rankings?

Yep. Kind of like how you did before with Solo/Duo and Ranked 5s.

People that think premades are toxic as ** get... nothing. It solves some, not all problems.

But that's the biggest problem with Dynamic Queue. That you constantly get matched with toxic demanding trolls and people that refuse to communicate with you while getting matched against smurfs and teams that coordinate 4 and 5 man camps on your lane. If you're not improving the actual match quality, the rankings mean nothing.

I hear you but, not only has that not been my experience, I don't think that even reflects Riot's or a majority of the community's views. I think people made the same arguments about other players in a theoretical "elo hell" that they didn't deserve to be in.

More to your point, however, is that, in your eyes, at least one ranking would mean something, because it would only take into account games in which you weren't matched with or against the players you described.

Yes, that ranking was old solo/duo queue. May it rest in peace. It was the perfect compromise and they took it away.

Goosetard1 votes

It could come back, with this setup.

Goosetard1 votes

Now that solo-queue is confirmed to be a no-go, can we have this instead? It literally takes nothing away from what you're trying to do and preserves competitive integrity for players who think solo-queue is a better gauge of skill

Why? That doesn't change anything since your wins / losses are STILL affected by premades.

THIS DOESN'T SOLVE ANYTHING.

#THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO SEPARATE SOLO PLAYERS & PREMADES.

#YOU HAVE TWO WIN/LOSS RECORDS, ONE WITH GAMES THAT CONTAINED PREMADES AND ONE THAT DIDN'T IT'S TRACKING BOTH WHEN THEY ARE SEPARATE WITHOUT ACTIVELY SEPARATING THEM, SINCE THE SECOND THING IS WHAT RIOT WON'T DO
