Why does Riot give such strong incentives to play with friends?

It's already more fun to play this game with my friends. Almost everything in life is better enjoyed with friends. That was all the incentive to party up I ever needed.

Who's out there that didn't want to play with friends but does now because of the bonuses for doing so? Why do I have to feel like I'm doing it wrong when I happen to queue up by myself?

Why? Beecuz... For the same reason that various religions want their people to breed within their clan, the notion that the game will spread through friendships.

I can see that being a reason. I don't think the current system is the best way to encourage that.

I've played this game for years now. I don't want to take the time to introduce someone to it and have them learn all its intricacies so that they'll be able to play as well as I can. I'm much more likely to make shallow acquaintances who are playing the game than to get current friends to play. Hell even if I decide to get someone to sign up, if I want to play with them I'll have to go grind out bot games for a while.

If they wanted to convince people to sign up, they should have update the referral system.

There is something a bit gimmicky about the process, like selling a product with proprietary cartridges.

This is exactly how I feel. I have to go party with terrible players just so I can get a 25% change in IP. I shouldn't have to be forced to play with others if I don't want to.

You are getting absolutely nothing less than you've ever gotten by queuing alone. The bonuses are likely a way of encouraging people to get their friends into the game as well so they have a party.

If I gave everyone in the country who has your job a pay raise except you, and told you that you were getting nothing less than you got before, how would that sit with you?

There's no "minimum standard of living" in League. Champion releases have a defined system to determine their prices and Riot will not raise that price because players may be getting more IP, and there is no subscription fee to continue playing the game that can be offset by in-game currency.

Without a living economy there is no reason for you to give a crap that other players get rito funbux for something you don't want to do.

It's a pain to synchronize schedules. Incentivizing grouping makes players more willing to put up with what it takes to get a group of people to all set time aside and enjoy the game together.

They want to incentivize grouping because it legitimately is a better benefit to the experience than players realize and also reduces toxicity in games so they have less "he afk'd!" "he called me names!" "he's just bad at the game!" "I don't deserve a ban for calling him a shitlord!" paperwork to sift through.

It's not for you, it's for them lol

Get all your friends addicted to League so they'll play it more and spend more money

Friends always end up = drama. I hate drama. Solo for the win.

I can't speak for riot but I think they feel its the more sound strategy for future growth. The game's meta as well as balance decisions have made the game more team focused than it used to be and strategy is more important than solo carry potential is. Beyond this league isn't growing the same way it used to. Its not "dying" like many people say it is but one could saying its "dying" in the same way anyone over 27 is dying. Incentivizing teamplay gives current players reason to invite new players to the game as well as encourages players to stay around to play with their friends. Also incentives encourage more play time and making it tied to parties in theory multiplies that effect. Dynamic Queue itself is more of a way for people who don't have 4 four friends consistently to take part in the "teamplay" meta than it is their to screw with solo players, even if it can be a side effect. Note I don't really think these ideas are necessarily right or wrong or if they are riots reasoning but that is what it looks like to me.

You won't be toxic to your friends /if you really value each other/ and it's just more fun to play together than alone.

That being said I really do miss playing with a full premade of competent players.
