I am sick and tired of being placed into one sided games
I'm not being toxic in game, so i'm just gonna vent here.

It's because of how MMR is calculated; the current system is just about as bad as it's possible to be (that's after reading the Dev Blog about it). Riot base your skill purely off whether the team wins or loses, without taking into account whether you played extremely well, extremely badly or anywhere in between. They say they do this because this is a team game, but it just doesn't hold up if you queue as an individual. So you can be a consistent 10/2/12 in any carry position, but if you're team fail for whatever reason, you lose exactly the same amount of rating as the rest of them. That also holds true for the people you face, so you might have on the enemy team a very good player who has been brought down to your MMR by trolls or afks, or simply bad luck. Everyone's MMR is simply a measure of how lucky they were or weren't with team mates in the current system; now this isn't a problem if you're a premade 5, but it fucks over the average solo player. The community on this game is renowned for being toxic; case in point: as I sit here, as a Zilean Support, typing during deaths, the enemy bot lane have suicided into my tower because they hate each other. They are actually quite good, but each wants the other to lose...The system, along with actively promoting trolls, also doesn't take into account whether you got the role or champion you wanted; you should know a variety before you list Ranked, but everyone has a best and a worst. All this, along with how snowbally the game is now, leads to many unilateral slaughters, which are little fun if you're winning and far less if you're losing. Of my games, where I have and almost exact 50/50 WLR, about 30% are us stomping them, 30% them stomping us, and 40% actual balanced games; 60% of the time the MMR system fails to a greater or lesser degree. The more sensible sytem is the Overwatch system, where you loss/gain is modified by your personal performance; poorer players aren't carried to far beyond their skill, better players aren't penalized too hard for having the odd bad game.
tl;dr: the current MMR system is bad, and compounded with the increase in snowballing, leads to more one-sided games than not. Riot should look at how Acti-Blizzard decided to fix the problem of Solo Queues
In Overwatch they had to remove skill-based matchmaking at the higher ranks because it actively punished players for actually playing the way the game is intended and instead encouraged mindless stat padding. With that system it was better to stick with a bad pick and pad your stats instead of switching hero to counter your opponent. Hell, people got to Top 500 with way below 50% win rates because they could just pad their stats with certain heroes.
Do you really want League games where your top Nasus goes "don't end yet, I need 300 more stacks to optimize my LP gain" and then he AFK farms for the rest of the game, or the enemy purposefully not ending the game to get more kills so they gain more LP and you lose more LP? And how would you even quantify "personal skill"? Purely KDA and CS? Zoning is impossible to quantify but it's a huge part of the game. Blocking a vital skillshot that was gonna hit your carry is also impossible to quantify. That's why Riot goes purely by Win/Loss, there's too many parts you can't quantify.
That look like something than can be fixed with some code changes instead of jumping of a skill ladder. I don't think league's system is better than a skill based system at all, look at our top tiers, meta slaves, OP champion abusers.
Most top tier top laners are Camille's one trick, just because she's so good in this meta.
What code changes would that even be? You can't quantify everything that contributes to a win, so no matter how you cut it someone's gonna get the short end of the stick. For example, with a skill-based system no one would want to play tanks. Why play 500 games as tanks and get 20/-20 LP for games when you could play far less games as ADC and get 30/-10 because you can pad your stats easier?
The main and key difference here is that with the current system people are still playing to win, while with a "skill based" (point-based is more accurate) system people are gonna play to pad stats. They pick Camille because it's easier to win with her, not because you get more kills on average. And at the end of the day, the objective of Ranked is to win and not get high stats.
If there was a way to weigh every contribution to the win I'd be all for it, but that's impossible to do without some super advanced AI analyzing each game and predicting the change of outcome based on every action.
I will take that Nasus example any day over the current system, where you are rewarded or penalised based on the completely mixed-bag pot luck of whether you get competent team mates or not. In 2 back to back games, where I was a support both times, I went from having a Cait who ate every skillshot and thought Nami had a shield ability, to a Tristana who would focus on whatever had my Braum stun passive on rather than just mindlessly attempting to explode Jhin. Maybe it narrows down at higher ranks, but down here in the ELO pit that is Silver, there is exactly 0 guarantee that your team mate even knows trinket wards are free.... You even said it yourself; Blizzard made changes at high ranks to their system; any system can be abused (just look at carry duos and smurfs here), and they fixed it to deal with the min-maxers, rather than forsaking the average player just trying to climb.
And on the things that can't be quantified; yes, you're right, they do exist, but if you do those things, like good zoning or sacrificing yourself for your carry, then it will shine through to other, quantifiable measures, like assists and vision score and gold (because your carry can safely farm in your zone and the gold shares ever so slightly). If Riot are so against any kind of personal score tracking, they should get rid of Ratings and Mastery Rank. All it looks like from here is they are too lazy to try to improve the system; like that dog in the meme who ignores the fire because there's too much to extinguish and he doesn't want to acknowledge it....

I will never forget the MF that literally had no clue what cs was. Not that she didn't understand killing and score, she just did not know that killing a minion with a last hit rewarded gold. She was gold ranked.
My last attempt at promos I consistently got placed with teams that when averaged were roughly 100 MMR below the opposing team. Some of them were 200 MMR below me.
I recently got demoted because my teams were stacked with bronze 2 players, and the opposing team was stacked with silver 4 and 5 players.
I did the math on the winrates and Riot is full of shit. Again. It was like 46% winrate vs 53% winrate, but riot supposedly only creates teams that are within 50% +/- 1% winrates.
Riot have made it emphatically clear that they care little for anyone below Plat, which given how that covers the majority of the player base seems a little odd.... It's always most telling when someone from the lower ranks mentions 'ELO Hell' or 'being hardstuck' and is immediately down voted by the high ELO circlejerk of 'those things don't exist, you're just bad'. When I have a score consistent with people 2 or 3 whole divisions above me as a support and I'm still moving backwards, that should be the indicator that something in the system is deeply flawed; but because it's not happening to them, they deny its' existence, and as far as I can tell, Riot takes their side because 'well, these are our best players, they must know what they are talking about'..... The number of posts on the Forums about the system needing a change by people in lower ranks, and getting obliterated by high rank players, should be indicative of the fact that something is wrong with the system, at least in lower ranks

Your right about most of that. But your wrong about Riot, they don't take our side because they only care about profits. Their goals (profits) are best served by catering to the LCS organization and to their primary markets and demographics (which hasn't been us for several years).
As shown by all the champion balance being done around LCS, and the current state of ADCs because 'plays'

Hey as long as the shoutcasters get to scream louder for the youtube and facebook clips.
What's funny is the shoutcasters for the LCS split a week or two ago were completely bored, like they knew the current meta was bullshit and they were just tired of hiding that fact. "Oh look janna used ardent censor again. And kog maw won the laning phase. I guess that's game, gg."
Just because game snowballs into one side does not mean that the match was not balanced at it's initial starting point.
Seriously, people take random coin flip fights 24/7 - and one team wins them.

I don't know why you are getting down voted when its true, if you create a custom game with two Jax bot's only one can win
its either matchmaking or snowballing, but they should fix it
I've been there, matchmaking freaking matters. I've been sorted to teams with 2 constant losing players when I'm on a winning streak. Like, what? Why?
My last 30 games were completely one sided.
idk. I got matched with a smurf account twice yesterday.
both games were aweful, despite winning them.
edit: that smurf was getting matching with other smurfs - a kat player trying to level up the account. she went 34 or something. It was hmmmm. really awful. A terrible terrible awful experience.
Just played a game where my top lane Ornn kept trying to 1v1 trynd.
Fuck this matchmaking man. It's like he had no idea what Trynd's abilities do.

I mean that's not really a thing to complain about though, that's a hard matchup for tryn to win.
I get that he probably got fed and then ornn did it repeatedly but like I'm just sayin.
Because it only takes one person going 0/10 in lane to render a game all but over.
Just won two in a row, very nice, decent teams. 3rd game guess what happens.......Champ select, our Top shows Soraka as intent. One of my teammates bans it away. Jungler shits bricks and locks in Janna and tells us to enjoy the loss. Had to dodge. I swear, the system knows who all the trolls are and places them on your team when it wants you to lose.
How did Riot know your team is gonna ban Soraka so your top player can rage and throw? Did they trudge through all possible players to find someone with a history of trolling when Soraka is banned and then find another person who bans Soraka every game?
Only a troll would want to go Soraka top. System placed them with us and let human nature take over.
how.would.you fix matchmaking?
Different MMR for different roles. Basically give people one generalized MMR score for all their matches, then have separate modifiers for them based on which roles they play. So someone who mains Mid will have a higher MMR when they are assigned mid-lane, and a lower MMR when they get autofilled to jungle or support.
This would (IMO) go a long way towards fixing imbalances due to people getting autofilled against mains in the same role.
"Bro, you're going Ekko jungle?" "I guess" "Are you good with him?" "Don't know. Never played him before."
Every third fucking game.
