@riot anyone, can we have a civil discussion in this thread about recent changes?

so recent changes have really... confused... myself and a lot of other players. I see some explanations in other threads but the problem is that reasoning behind these changes come, then when you get "backlash" we never hear from any rioters again. im sorry but im not fond of reddit and id much prefer hearing from riots employees on their own site rather than a third party site. so with that said, im very curious about two changes in general that have been HUGE topics of debate lately

  1. the smite changes on pbe. I understand pbe is meant to test things out so obviously its not final. what im wondering is why? what are the results you're looking for with these changes? I assumed it was to make mobile junglers less strong but im just not comprehending how reducing smite range is helping lower their power. think about it, I hate to use the same 3 examples as everyone else but these are the three elephants in the room so to speak. lee sin now has reduced smite range. how does this effect him? well he cant have a guaranteed q on someone since the slow will be harder to get in range for from smite. how can he change his play style to get around this? well lee sins almost always bring sightstone and ward hoping will either A. get him in range for smite, or B. get him even closer so he can just q and save his smite. so please explain how this smite change is hurting the most mobile jungler? Jarvan, oh jarvman this one always seems to have a way of coming back into favor even after being forgotten. jarvan already has his E Q combo which has a very large range. when a jarvan ganks, he doesn't really lead with smite, he uses it after his shield slow or before to maximize his cc after using his E Q. E q combo will almost certainly have him in range for smite, so how does this hurt him at all? Vi, vi has one of the largest gap closers, I think next to zac but im not positive so don't hold me to that. basically the same as j4, vi can get in range almost guaranteed already so nerfing smites range only makes these 3 stronger. plz elaborate what you guys are trying to accomplish with the jungle, not so we can retaliate, but so we can help! we want to see this game as balanced as possible and some of us have dedicated countless hours into this game and, meaning no disrespect, its the players who pick up whats strongest in the meta before the balance team 90% of the time
  2. veigar changes. I remember seeing the thread where I believe meddler made comments on the upcoming veigar changes (not sure if it was actually meddler that's just my assumption) and the ideas had ridiculous community feedback which seems to have been ignored. rather than redesign veigar into a new mage with the same identity, you've created an immobile ball of stats that relies on luck and enemy stupidity rather than player skill. options were thrown all around to change veigar into something not only the community but the game itself could enjoy and it seems they fell on deaf ears. please... im begging you guys to admit you made a mistake. it happens and this veigar "buff" was a mistake. all I ask is for more time. I think you guys pushed this "buff" out way too quick without fully considering the effect it would have on the most iconic mage in this game. so I ask please revert the "buff" and take more time with veigars changes because this was a mistake.

tl;dr this is a thread just looking for reasons behind the proposed smite changes and veigar changes. not really offering much change but just looking for a reason to why things are being changed in the first place

If Lee used to be able to smite -> QQ -> E -> R, now they will have to ward -> W -> smite -> QQ -> E -> R. Leaves him out of options after executing the combo. Actually a pretty big deal for Lee, means tower diving will be harder.

That said, the blue smite nerf isn't about nerfing powerful junglers. It's about saying "this long range a targeted slow is bad for the game", and they'll sort the details out later. This is a valid point of view. Blue smite does indeed make early ganks quite reliable, and one of the goals of the season 5 jungle is to decrease early game jungler influence.

Now, I'm pretty annoyed about how long it took them to come to this blue smite conclusion; we're like 5 patches out from the preseason at this point. Also, it's quite clear they have an OP generalist jungler problem, yet they keep sitting on their hands about it.

I recommend patience. The last time the community was in an uproar over inferior compensation for DFG removal was ... well ... Ahri, and everyone knows how that turned out. Also, they did delay the release of Veigar in 5.3 because they wanted more time to work on this change.

Now, maybe it turns out Veigar sucks, but I wouldn't jump the gun on it. I think that Q buff is amazing and I'll have to play with the E nerf to see how it feels.
