I'd like to try learning a role other than my main. I am VERY bad at roles that aren't my main. Am I going to be placed accordingly or will it place me at the same level as it usually does? I gave it a quick google, but all the results were about the removed ranked positional matchmaking. I'm not sure if normal positional matchmaking was removed with that
None of the results I have ever seen are that Riot Removed Positional MM. Just Positional Ques.
On the matchmaking side, we’re happy with how positional matchmaking—not to be confused with** position ranks**—is working. Queue times have improved for many players and off-position win rates have gone up. On top of that, primary position rates have improved, and in many cases, autofill rates have gone down.
so on March 13 we’re ending the **position ranks **preview in North America and Korea and discontinuing the rollout of position ranks globally.

I tell folks I believe riot rolled out Positional MM to all ques because that expectation was set via patchnotes.
A swath of Ranked 2019 changes land for preseason testing. Splits, position ranks, and positional matchmaking will come at season start.
