Galio's weakness is his e.

ShadowParker··9 votes·1,146 views

As an ability that is used for movespeed/poke. It's pretty awful in both regards. So how about an ap ratio on his movement speed on his gust?

What does this do? Well, currently Galio's problem is his lack of being able to get in the middle of teamfights and ulting. Leading to most galio players to have to flash ult to be effective. By giving his e movespeed, it increases his effectiveness in teamfights massively.

I'd be willing to trade 2 things for this. Either lower the damage for e, or lower the base move speed to scale with ap if found to be too powerful.

Thoughts? What do you guys think of this idea? Also if a red cough repertoire or meddler coughcould jump in and give their thoughts that'd be great.

Yeah you're right, but I'm not sure if riot would be willing to just outright buff him and add a slow. Lowering the damage for e would be pretty bad too imo because it already does next to no damage. That would give him basically 1 damage ability to use in lane, and would probably drive his play rate even lower. I like the reduced base for scaling idea though.

They could just make it a dash and galio leaves the same trail for movement speed behind him on landing

I don't think there's any way Galio's getting a dash as long as he has Idol of Durand in its current form.

EcchiOtakuTM1 votes

Tsk. I mean oh my I wasn't thinking of that [slayer-jinx-wink]

Honestly though if they removed the E damage made it a dash and change his passive he would lose alot of tankiness, build differently, and be reasonable to have E dash leaving the same trail.

Although the ran would be lowered of course.

They've said he won't get a dash

They've said alot of things it's 2016 things will change so a suggestion to change e into a no damage dash, change passive to a non-damage but useful one(It's useful currently but if e is a dash it should be a no damage one), to compensate ulti cd would have to be raised.

ViashinoWizard1 votes

Galio doesn't really use E for damage in lane anyway.

EcchiOtakuTM1 votes

Exactly why i want it to just be a no damage dash, change his passive(To a useful but non-damage one ofc), and probably increase his ulti CD.

I dislike galio's E, but for an entirely different reason. Galio has a strong teamfight ult that people want to use, to the point where they'll burn flash just to get a good ult off, but it's not really meant for engage. Everything about his kit screams 'disengage', from the q that rarely hits targets running away, but almost always hits enemies chasing you, to the ludicrously strong heal on his w that's best used after a fight is halfway over, and his ult that drags already-engaged enemies off of your allies and turns the tide of fights. His E doesn't fit, because its width is so tiny that it's clearly meant to be used by Galio and pretty much no one else- which encourages people to use it to try and run at the enemy team really fast (a pattern that doesn't actually work with Galio). If it had less damage, but a very broad width, it could serve as a mini Sivir ult, to either help your team stall for time or chase down the enemy team after you've turned the fight around. Right now, it doesn't really do either, and people just use it for damage- which is fine, I guess, but I don't think it's living up to its full potential.

I main Galio. Been playing him almost exclusively this season with great results. His E is strong. Fairly weak early game, but with Rylai's it becomes amazing later game and is a great source of damage and soft cc. And most importantly, it's far easier to land than Q, basically guaranteed damage.

It also should not be easy for him to get within ult range. That's it's weakness to a very powerful ult, and the weakness (counterplay) should not be removed or over-compensated for. Naturally he has a slow and speed increase, which is enough to help him.

Galio is very strong, and very balance, as is. His E is alittle boring, but still strong.

You take Rylai's on him? That won't work on his Q, as it reaches 40% slow late game, and the Rylai's slow's 40%, so I think I heard that it won't slow if a spell already has the same slow as Rylai's. But his E yea of course that would slow and his auto attacks. Even his ult too I think.

I think either this or they add a small 5-20% slow on it. Or maybe they transfer some power from this w to his e.

I feel like his w is pretty core to him though. The ability to heal off of damage is pretty unique, and it's only later in the game so it's not really op early.

What if you just take all the damage off of it and make it a half decent utility spell with a lower cool-down. As you said both damage and utility are negligible anyway..

ShadowParker1 votes

I wouldn't do that just because then he only has 1 damaging spell and will be played as a full tank instead of ap bruiser. Plus he does use his e somewhat frequently to help clear waves and poke.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

I play him tanky, but that's just my preference lol. I still wouldn't take the damage off though. He doesn't need to be like Nunu.

That would be too overpowered.

They could balance out the kit by making e a no damage dash with same speed boost and rework passive along with tone down some damage since it would be more reliable. Don't have to act like it's just adding a dash with no nerfs to the rest of his kit.

That's the thing though. They would have to nerf the rest of his kit, and the damage of his e. In my opinion, that's not worth it. A dash with his ultimate would be hard to balance and the nerfs would probably be pretty serious and honestly I don't want to destroy his laning phase just to make it easier to land an ult.

EcchiOtakuTM1 votes

And that would be fine not like galio's damage and natural scaling off mr wasn't insane anyways some adjustments to make E a no damage dash with the movement bonus path and reworking the passive would be fine.

HoboMcJoe1 votes

To be honest I would be very against removing the damage from his e. While it already does little damage, I wouldn't go as far as calling it negligible, and turning it into a full utility spell would make playing him as a burst mage pretty much impossible. Turning it into a dash would be a very bad idea, as that would probably make galio broken and impossible to balance and then they would end up gutting him.

You should not make an entirely new comment every time. That way people don't get confused. Just reply to the person that you're talking too. :p

I couldn't agree more with OP, doesn't make sense to put even a single point into it until both Q and W are maxed, always.

I wish Riot would just rework the E into something that added a bit of flavor into his kit. Something with a bit more risk-reward and outplay potential to spice up all that nuke-slinging going on during lane phase.
