New year, new me. Or in league terms; The start of a new season.

With season six drawing to a close and a lot of people just waiting to jump into some ranked games I thought it was time to give those interested in playing Mordekaiser some tips.

So, why should you play Mordekaiser? Apart from being a total badass who enslaves his enemies and being a walking, talking Metal reference? If you're not already sold let me tell you why picking Mordekaiser could help you and your team win!

-Carry potential Mordekaiser is one of those champs who can singlehandedly carry a game He's a recipe of disaster seeing that he's both DURABLE and provides a lot of DAMAGE. And we all know everyone likes double D's

-Can provide a way to bolster up your existing frontline Mordekaiser works extremely well with tanky engagers and divers, being able to provide everything they want form a midlaner with Rylais slows, more bulk to add to their mass, heals with his W and very strong damage for evaporating cc'd enemies

-Great counter pick Mordekaiser can be a very strong counter to a variety of champions due to being hard to kill and being able to negate aggression He counters assassins like Zed, Ekko and Yasuo to some extend Works well against Battlemages and mid-ranged casters Is a great counter to burst characters And out pushes almost any champion

-Benefits strategic thinking Dragons? They become even more important, allowing you to push down towers like they're nothing

Enemy is fed? Make them serve YOU

Runes? http://www2.pic-upload.de/img/32242528/ironman.jpg Those are the runes I like to run but you can swap out the blues for MR if you so desire and maybe add some armor into AD heavy matchups

With the Rylais changes the MS quints will be even more important.

Masteries ?http://www2.pic-upload.de/img/32242538/ridersofthestorm.jpg

Srs helps getting kited and has great Synergy with Morde's kit The Ferocity and Cunning tree also give him very strong combat benefits

Items? My usual core build consists of the following items item 3116 item 3151 item 3146 item 3053 item 3143 /item 3065 The flat pen in particular makes you deal TRUE damage to squishies due to you amassing over 40 FLAT penetration Rylais and Liandries have great Synergy and provide very strong damage as well as the % shred to help against squishies and tanks alike due to your ultimate constantly reapplying the burn

Steraks is overall a strong defensive option that also synergizes well with Morde's base AD Adds a fair amount of damage

item 3146 The most damage you can get with one item. It provides a lot of damage as well as giving a long range slow and 250 damage burst Has great synergy with SV if you do pick it up

Other viable choices are: item 3152 item 3742 item 3078 item 3135

Max order W: Provides a lot of lane presence due to the strong wave clear, damage and potential 380+0.6AP heal v Q: You want to max this by mid game for hard hitting Q damage v E: You don't get an awful lot from maxing your Siphon so better max it last

For summoner spells try running summoner 6 and summoner 4

If you do master Mordekaiser you've got yourself a very strong champion who can easily solo carry if you play your card right! Any more questions? Feel free to just ask!

But can Jet Fuel melt him?

Malicious Metal12 votes

Yes, I found Corki's MR/armor shred highly effective against Morde as he can melt him rather easily in the early game. By the 9:11th minute mark Mordekaiser becomes too tenacious to crumble!

How do I deal with shits like talon though? And master yi mid (yeah some pleb master yi top'd me when i played morde, thankfully he was an idiot and rushed item 3072). And what about long range poke such as velkoz, ahri, and xerath? thanks

Talon? I just maintain my shield and pick favorable trades. He'll be roaming 24/7 so let your teammates know that they should stay safe. Other than that just deny him his passive proc and you'll be fine.

Yi is a cheese pick and can be really annoying due to being able to dish out enough sustained damage to breach through your shield and completely ignoring Rylais slows. Just stay safe and don't let him just jump you.

My main prob with yi is he can just escape everything from mord thanks to W. It's super frustrating.

Build randuins, gunblade, and rageblade. Run ghost and ignite, you should be able to take care of yi early.

Build your shield before they poke, slowly gain health advantage in lane and push them in.

your not allowed to know how to play against vel'koz. its forbidden. ahri on the other hand, i just wait and try to bait out her charm. once that is on cooldown i try to do the best i can with damaging her as she has no other get-off-me move besides r which is why you make your move before level 6.

for xerath just stay near your teams minions constantly so that he can't get his mana back. if you let him control the area around the minions your going to have a hard time due to his passive increasing his sustain. this also means you should not push your lane whatsoever so that your minions dont head over to his side.

Have you ever tried Deathfire Touch?

I know, I know, it's not that great with AOEs and Stormraider's is just too good to ignore...

But man is it hilarious attaching an extra DoT to your super long ulti DoT.

Before the nerfs it was actually a really good option but nowadays it's just meh.

The Ferocity tree does offer % Pen though which can be nice but with Precision you amass so much FLAT pen to deal true damage to squishies (40 MR is probably the highest a ranged character can have without any items) 16 Flat pen from Masteries and Runes, 15 from Liandries and 15 from boots adds up to 46 Flat penetration, which allows you to deal unholy amounts of damage.

57 MR is the pretty typical topend for a ranged squishy - 30 base, 27 from scaling MR blues, which are a popular pick. 42 is a common number too (flat MR blues).

But yeah, I do see the point - especially when you need to focus on blowing up the squishies, and you'd probably win a drawn out fight against a tank anyways even without the %pen...

I run stormraiders or windspeakers. Stormraiders never falls off, windspeakers makes you an OP immovable object early.

With windspeakers, max w and e first, and play pacifist. You will outsustain everything and generate MASSIVE SHEILDS. I normally use it with troll builds tho.. I'll build ardent censor, Spirit Visage, Gunblade, and Redemption xD The early sustain and sheilds are halarious, but you faol off late game. Windspeakers is pretty funny on Mord when you take it with Runic Armor, max w first, and e second. Run ignite to make up for your lack of damage

I used to run dft, and still use it when I jungle. Its ok, but stormraiders is the best on Mord for serious games. Dft+Liandries+ult+ignite tho, Morde, the Master of Melting

I was actually thinking about trying him because you talk about him on the boards a lot xD

Would you think he's better in mid or top atm btw?

Malicious Metal1 votes

Matter of preference and matchup dependent.

I generally feel Top is the safer option but mid works better if you want to have an impact on the map. It also helps that your top laner can pick an actual engage tank^^

Starters should use him top to get the feel of him, once you get a decent grasp of him he can be played quite effectively mid.

How can I play support Mordekaiser? :)

Malicious Metal3 votes

By having a Darius "Support" who takes all your kills and makes you feel like a support. AKA; Get yourself a premade bot and fool around.

Support Mordekaiser is weird, it's not THAT bad and can work but I do not recommend it XD

just wanted to get your opinion on morde, my first penta in ranked was with him and im a really big metal head so i really like him as a champion. I like maxing E or Q in lane before W. Is W really that strong? I figured E was great for its poke and Id max Q if they were melee so i could smash some heads. Also what do you think Deathfire touch, and trinity? Also the ap elixir is really strong on him because his ult will proc the true damage after I think its 5 second cd.

Okay so quick question on alternative playstyles.

I used to always max E first then q then W, while rushing gunblade, and CDR quints and blues 20% cdr and 25% with mastery, The logic behind this is to consitently get that 25% max shield with E while healing off the damage also, have you ever done something similar to this and whats your opinions?

Hyperiön1 votes

W max is standard. Its free wave clear, and sustain.

I normally get E>Q>W>E>WWW.
