Am i stupid or is sustain damage/ sustain tanking just gone from this game?

It seems to me that all the viable striker/dps/carry champs in this game are hard burst champs that can 100-0 eachother. What happened to those inbetween champs that could take a beating for longer and over the course of a fight would outdamage the burst mages, assassins, adcs, etc.

I mean I remember riot talking about burst being an issue, but i feel like they then attempting to maximize burst.

Personally i like seeing burst champs, but i do miss that old feeling of a tankier champ that deals adequate damage. All i can really think of this day in age are Heimerdinger Vladimir but even they have been hit pretty drastically over the past season or so, with the removal of the banner of command minion aura and the changes on vlads scaling.

A lot of champs with any kind of sustain are pretty immobile as well. Pair the reductions in sustain via item removal, skill buffs like spell vamp being removed, tankiness of many items going down (either direct or indirect), and lack of jump type skills which are super important atm. And characters with sustain just aren't in a great position.

Players are better, the game is faster, and there are tons more burst/execute mechanics in the game. Sustained damage is still a thing, but it's dished out so fast it feels more like burst. Welcome to the new League of Legends!

That logic is the same logic that everyone went from noob to able to always win a match as XinZhao or Yasuo, which in reality is NOT proper logic, otherwise i'd be winning matches with using them even though im playing them decently but constantly run into counters when i play them yet my team does no counter picks against yasuo, xin or other scummy pub stomper champions instead.

Its "MORE" along the lines that Riot pushed for or was 'pushed to do so' in order to make games shorter but they didn't take into consideration they were shortening late game window and even the mid game window which also at the same time made early game champions and builds turn into turd'fest snowballs since not many ways to even 'counter' said snowball with 'normal' player logic.

Plain and simple, Riot needs to do a good game fix up on champions, items and so on(Lethality ESPECIALLY include) so that early game also gets affected by all the tweaks they did which results in faster games (Nerfing Vision, removing bot lane's tower protection, lack of attention to anti-diving tower measures' especially on champions with moderate-high health so they could care less on turret damage when they can easily net a 2 man gank kill on a 70~% health tank, sometimes with just a beefy 1 damage, rest tanky B.S. champion like LeeSin or Hecarim.

Throw any sort of sustain item on a bruiser and they are DPS sustain, hell most bruisers have built in sustain in their kit.

It's funny because it's actually the sustained dps people who force the meta into favoring heavy burst - because if you don't 100-0 the sustain dps guy they simply never die and just kill everyone.

It's the other way around:

The spread of self sustain that now most of the characters have has made burst damage that doesn't oneshot you unviable, hence most of the nowdays viable characters are the ones able to build so that you are getting oneshotted. Otherwise is an outsustain fight.
