I don't think I've ever seen a move so oppressive. Sure you can dodge the initial skill shot but if it hits you, you are left with two options and much like Riot refuses to believe, NEITHER are very good options.

  1. The Champion Spotlight recommends fighting back against Illaoi because hitting her will reduce the time frame the spirit exists.

Sounds good right? But here's what really happens when you fight an Illaoi, her tentacles will hit BOTH YOU AND THE SPIRIT SHE PULLS FROM YOU causing incredible amounts of damage that also heals her making it extraordinarily tough to trade blows with her.

Now that that option is off the table here's the other one.

  1. Run away, and face the trial afterward.

Another bad option, because you have to kill 3 tentacles before they'll leave you alone. And if teammates kill them, tough shit for you. You cannot even use the chat feature to inform your teammates because while you type, your getting your ass whipped by tentacles. Not to mention the effect lasts long enough so that you'll entirely miss one or two minion waves which only improves her overall advantage against you.

Personally, I enjoy getting hit by her E because dodging and killing 3 tentacles is a pretty fun challenge, even tho its a bit too easy to do so lol.

Because you're meant to be punished if you get hit. You can however choose how hard yoy're punished.

Whether you fight or run away, there is a VERY GOOD chance that Illaoi's E will kill you. Whether it's the damage her tentacles are slapping you with or the massive ass slow that lets her catch up to you and slap you with even more tentacles.

Unless you're some kind of hyper health tank, Illaoi's tentacles do 800+ damage EACH more than enough to kill someone.

Tentacles have a 1.3 ad ratio, so they actually can do 50% of your hp

Only problem with her E is the mana cost. It shouldn't be 35 mana at rank 1.

If Blitz hooks you, you can get away yourself if you have the tools.

If Illaoi grabs you, you can't do shit but lose a couple minion waves or try to fight back and die.

You could knock Illaoi back or you could just fight her without standing on your clone so she has to choose to deal half damage through your clone or aim at you who can easily dodge her skillshots. Half damage generally loses to full damage. or you could run out of range before taking much damage and then really easily kill 3 tentacles or you could just dodge a skillshot that's slower and lower range than blitz's grab.

Not everyone has the mobility to get away from blitz after a grab too (actually, no one does because the grab is followed up by a knockup, and then again by a silence)

You're close to the spirit, but you don't have to be close enough that tentacles hit both of you unless you're stupid.

How is a shorter range and slower skillshot irrelevant? do you literally just stand in one place when you see the giant outline where the tentacle is going to land?

nothing new, just a bunch of low elos defending something until it get's spammed in the LCS and suddenly they change opinions.
