The grading system really needs work.

So here's what inspired this.

I played support Thresh and ended game at 2/2/13. This is, I believe, a good score and should be worth an S- or something (which I got)

My ADC who won the lane just as much as I did (since it was the same lane) and then trashed every teamfight we found ourselves in before they surrendered at 20, earned an A- with their score of 6/0/9

Does getting an S rank as an ADC require a child sacrifice or something?!

"Well you didn't farm enough" I can already hear.

There are games (like this one) where the lane is won so quickly that teamfights start at 10-12 minutes and there is no time for farming. Our ADC was farming turrets, dragons, and champions instead of CS, but ended with a sub-optimal grade because of how single-minded the grading system for ADC champions is.

Why is CS so heavily weighted? Wouldn't total gold or objectives make more sense, and give a more accurate grade in different types of games?

Does Riot want ADC champions to be forced to make the incorrect decision of farming over helping their team win a game just to get an S ranking?

Someone please explain this to me....

20 minute wins are blowouts, so you're competing against truly huge scores when you provoke an early surrender. Most ADCs earning 20 minute wins are going to have scores similar to 6/0/9, so it's hard to earn a score that's appreciably better than the pack in those cases.

Amusingly, if you manage to win in UNDER 20 minutes, it becomes really EASY to get an S, because it's usually impossible to do so.

CS is heavily weighted for an ADC because of the role. Top and mid are somwhere around a 50/50 weighting. While ADC has somewhere around a 60/40 weighting. Because the ADC role is supposed to be late game they made it so that the role is more focused on getting cs in the early parts of the game.

Jungle is only second to support in this aspect. Jungle is like 40/60 and support is like 10/90

Just to clarify. First Number is CS% and the Second number is KDA%

Checked out the game, some other issues were kill participation, total gold, and game time. Shorter the game is, the harder it is to get a good grade. KP% being low affects it no matter what role you are (there are some champions where this will differ). Total gold across the board was dismal.

No.

If getting S-level farm means you wind up with B-level kills, %KP, and damage dealt, you still won't get an S. What gets you the S is being able to have a good scoreline, %KP, damage dealt, etc. while still managing to get that farm.

The grade is an indicator of your performance relative to others running the same champ in the same position. That just means that there are enough people who are able to get both the great KDA and get farmed while doing so, that a performance like your ADC had wasn't "great" in comparison.
