So I have a problem with Evelynn

Generally I only delve into the depths of the Boards when I have a champion/item to complain about, so the majority of my posts are in Gameplay. Today, however, I feel that I need to bring something up.

I have an issue with how the team in charge of Evelynn's rework went about their design process.

I want to be clear from the beginning, I appreciate all that Riot does with regards to the lore and story of their game. I find the vast majority to be interesting, creative, and entertaining. Riot has done an excellent job building an immersive world, and has juggled the daunting task of making a unique and powerful story for each of their many characters quite well.

It is in part because of how well they have done in the past that I find Evelynn's new rework to be so disappointing and, frankly, offensive.

A while back, in an edition of "Ask Riot," it was mentioned that the design team would be looking to add more "sexy" female champions to the roster (after a few champions like Illaoi and Camille had given us more non-traditional female characters). Personally I had found the direction they were taking to be refreshing and far more interesting than the standard Ahri's and Miss Fortune's of the world, but I digress. I have no problem with Katarina having a sexual undertone to her character or Janna casually referencing sexual themes in her joke. What I do have a problem with, is Evelynn being overtly sexual, to the point of soft-core pornography in my opinion, in everything from her story to voice lines. Female characters in video games have always been, and likely always will be, sexualized to some degree. This is too far.
It's lazy design (basically just a demonized Ahri) and is a large step backward from what was a very promising direction that Riot's design team seemed to be taking.

I get that you want to pander to your largely-male demographic (of which I am part) but this is just pathetic.
I wouldn't, in good conscience, recommend this game to any of my younger friends, nor would I let my children play this game if this direction continues.

Riot. Let me reiterate. I really appreciate what you do. There isn't another free-to-play game out there that offers such a diverse and enthralling narrative and (mostly) flawless gameplay. I love this game, and hope to see it thrive and grow.

I worry that this latest project of Evelynn's rework is harmful to your playerbase, as well as your image, and will ultimately have a negative impact on the game.

That is all.

One character that was intentionally sexy and overtly sexual does not set the stage for any future champions to be. As you said you're mainly in gameplay, but on these boards there is a push for VO for Ahri and MissFortune so that their in game quotes better reflect their lore (for real they never shut up about it, rightfully so, as well Ahri no longer seduces people in her lore so calling Evelynn a demon ver. of Ahri is some what off the mark). I wouldn't be surprised if Janna lost which ever innuendo in her quotes in the future.

Evelynn may be Riot's representation of a seductive female champion, but she is not a representation of what they aspire for 'all' female champions to be. The last few female champions should have indicated that, not to mention Evelynn is a rework and not a new character (they made a sexy champ sexier).

So we should never have a slut in the game? This is a god damn 12+ game. At this time boys and girls know about how the things work. It is the kids problem that they play a 12+ game. After a game has nacked women (nacked like for real) and bad language it becomes 18+. But people still play this games even if they don't meet the requirenment. Does that mean that this games should remove this parts of the product. NO! They say 18+ on the cover and it's kids' problem that they play this games.

I hear you, man.

But you have no luck in the echo chamber of idiocy that is this forum.

Reading the kind of stuff I read here, it looks like Riot actually knows its playerbase - and it's the kind of people who would like a silly, juvenile, generic design like Evelynn. The kind of people who would spend 5 bucks on an emote.

Keep in mind a Riot developer wrote he wants to have sex with Evelynn. He sounded like a horny 14 years old, yet he's a working adult. He probably WANTED to sound like a horny 14 years old.

Instead, I bet you're an adult. Who isn't trying to sound like a kid.

I'm considering leaving this game, and you should too.

I know we both feel like we've been betrayed because Riot did a huge bait-and-switch by promising one thing and then doing its opposite.

I don't mind oversexed champion designs. My problem is that new evelynn is suffering from ludonarritive dissonance.
