Top lane has lost it's impact in SoloQ
I get why the changes to lane meta and summoner spell Teleport happened. High high tier players and teamplay abused the hell out of the old top lane. But for low and mid elo (Bronze - Platinum) that just wasn't the case and top lane seems to be struggling in those elos which contains 90% of your player base. The main thing being teleport tbh. You have gutted the top laners impact on games after the 3rd teleport nerf because now you actually have to have mental retardation to not see a tp coming from a mile away.
Let's look at the post TP-Change win rates among the elos, Spot the similarity:
- Pantheon
- Quinn
- Talon
- Sion
- Rengar
See it? They all have AMAZING roaming potential to cover up the TP desecration by riot. Let's look at some more:
- *Cho-gath
- *Kayle
- *Casseopia
- *Vladimir
- *Yorick
- *Olaf
Wait a minute, those aren't roamers. No, but they are champs that scale so hard into the late game Macro Plays are not necessary and can actually be detrimental to their carry potential should they attempt to roam/tp.
Overview: After the MANY tp changes you now have top lane that is 1/2 play styles. You either play a hyper carry mobile champ that can roam 24/7 like pantheon/quinn OR you play a champ so late game that you don't need TP to impact. What does this mean? This means that TP is so an under-powered spell that your win rate actually suffers if you play a champion that actually uses it to impact the game.
Let's look at my Renekton for example. Renekton is a great champion right now except for the fact he has no impact, even agreed on by SRO the former Diamond/Master former Renekton one-trick. Before TP changes and top changes my win rate with renekton was 63% over ~100 games. Now, My renekton win rate is ~45%. Check this, even though my win rate is going down, my average KDA, CS, Wards, Damage, etc are all going up. Renekton is even stronger in the meta than he was previously.
What is my point? Notice how renekton doesn't fit the above lists. Even though my renekton gameplay is much better than the previous seasons AND the champion itself is in a stronger form, my win rate goes down because he doesn't make the list. Meanwhile I have a 60-70% win rate on champions like pantheon, yorick and jax who I barely played before because they don't rely on TP macro plays to carry where as a fed renekton means nothing if he can't impact the other lanes when he falls off.
