My thoughts on a small-scope Nautilus rework/retuning
So. Nautlius. And no, neither Captain Nemo's submarine nor the aquatic relic from the time dinosaurs roamed the earth.
Nautilus, the Titan of the Depths. Oh boy, one of my favorite champions and my second highest mastery champion, right next to Mordekaiser and Galio. Far have you fallen my boy, from the top lane menace you were to the gutter.
Nautilus has always been a nightmare to balance ever since the mini-rework that shifted a lot of his power into his E, Riptide, and made him terrorize top lane. Countless nerfs and meta shifts have finally resulted in him sitting at a 44% win rate, underperforming compared to all the other top laners.
I for once don't want my boy Naut to be trash simply because he's too good in the top lane as a brick wall that constantly shoves waves. So why don't we give Big Daddy some love and change how his kit works in order to make him more healthy for the game.
#By returning him to the Jungle
As things currently stand I think Nautilus theme and overall role fits more to a Jungle rather than a solo lane play style. So here I am, presenting what I cooked up for a small scale Nautilus "rework"
#Passive: Staggering Blows Nautilus cannot gain Attack speed from items, having a fixed attack speed His Auto attacks additionally deal a portion of the enemy's maximum health as magic damage and root on a moderate cooldown
First off his passive. In order to allow him to clear the Jungle easier I've decided to shift his power from flat damage to % as it greatly increases his Jungle clear and doesn't make him overbearing against squishies with strong flat damages. This wouldn't be a huge chunk of damage but rather small portions that add up and are easier applied against Jungle creeps. It also fits him as he swings a colossal Anchor, it's bound to leave a dent
#Q: Dredge Line Unchanged
#W: Titan's Wrath While under the effect of Titan’s wrath Nautilus takes 50% reduced damage from neutral monsters and Staggering Blows’s cooldown is reduced with every empowered AA
Jungle Nautilus' clear is pitiful and this change aims to help him clear more efficiently but also not take too much damage so he's healthy enough to gank. It also shifts his damaging power into actually being able to AA his target instead of spamming E when on top of them.
#E: Riptide Cooldown massively increased Enemies hit by at least two instances of riptide are briefly knocked up but become immune to further applications of Riptide
Remember New Dawn nautilus' Riptide? Yes. This is what it's supposed to be, a long CD, massive disruption tool. Currently it's a wet fart with low CD that's just too effective in clearing waves and applying overbearing damage to squishies. This change siphons a lot of power out of his E in order to funnel it into W
#R: Depth Charge Unchanged
I hope you see a pattern here. This change to Nautilus aims to solidify his identity as the Titan of the Depths who trudges on in the search of those who abandoned him and left him to die. He'd be more of a tank Jungler with good disruption albeit it being on a long CD, while also making his damage profile tied to him Auto attacking enemies with his slow AS.
I for once just want Nautilus to finally be good again without him just dominating the top lane meta. http://i.imgur.com/AMVO7lg.gifv
