Just wondering, because I see this pop up a lot. I've in Bronze IV, and even being a step away from the abyss that is Bronze V, I've pretty much never seen a support not build a Sightstone. The only ward related offenses that people do down here consistently is not upgrading trinkets/sweepers, and maybe sometimes not buying pinks.

Those who don't buy sightstone are usually mid mains that simply bring their main to botlane as support, only to build full AP like a mid player would. These peoole usually neglect the duty of purchasing sightstone.

How common is it that it happens? I understand the mid/support thing, I've seen Lux, Vel'Koz, Annie etc. bot a couple of times, but even they pretty much always buy a sightstone.

Ryzing2Diamond3 votesit's mostly higher elo that this happens, supports in low low elo don't actually think much about what they build and just build what they know works, instead of experimenting/considering the notion of something else working better. Arguably, this fault is probably why they have issues climbing, they may end up climbing in the future when they start to doubt the norm and experiment with their builds a bit more. That's why higher elo is plagued by no-ss supports as well as tank fizz/ekko and other absurdities, people are constantly looking for the new OP. It's not as bad as in Korea, though, where off-builds are basically the norm.

The two big posts about "supports don't need sightstones" right now are from bronze players. If you're decent at the game and the support, you know to buy a sightstone and change your trinket to oracle's for vision control.

Supports not buying sightstones is rare in low elos too, even if that's where it is most common.

JayHog19921 votesI tend to play with Season 5 silvers and gold players and only times I see that is when they play damage champions like Lux, Brand or Vel'Koz.
Then they proceed to say to the adc "buy vision".
YOU'RE HALF THE TEAM'S VISION! GET THE DAMN SIGHTSTONE!
I do my warding as an adc, but getting sick of people thinking it's my fault that we don't have any. -.-

KuroTheHero1 votesIt's mostly in bronze and silver that supports just go full ap with no sightstone. Sometimes higher elo supports won't do it either. When I smurf, I don't usually get a sightstone either (assuming we're doing well) because being able to 2v3 at bot is just as good
jussybby1 votesI'm in the silver ELO. I constantly see people not buying sighstones. I usually see it with certain champions though; ie blitz, lux. I legit played support one time and bought a sightstone and my adc asked me "why did you buy a sightstone"
