How does Duoing work?

I've experienced a bit of frustration as of late with being put into matches with duo'd players. This isn't new or exclusive to me by any means. However, it is frustrating at times. I was wondering what the logic (from the matching making sense) is for arranging teams with a duo partner? At my rank (Silver 4) I've seen like Silver 2 people in my match with a low LP Bronze 1 partners. The skill discrepancy is very apparent at times, especially when that Bronze 1 player selects a "1 on 1" role like top or mid where they can be exposed against a Silver 3 player.

This has been around forever and I don't think it should be removed, I was just wondering why and how these BIG gaps in skill can occur? I'd be happier if duo'd people were within a rank of my own skill level +/- 1 but it's less fun when having someone much higher and someone much lower in my match.

TLDR: What is the biggest gap +/- in skill that you can be stuck with if you are in a match with a paired duo?

Same with smurfing can easily get matched up with people 2 leagues below me.

Unless it changed, you can duo with someone who is one tier above or below yours. So the worst I suppose would be a High MMR Silver player with a low Bronze duo playing against mid Gold players. maybe it can be worse than that though, I don't really know.

Duoing isnt as big of a deal than people make it out to be... generally, plat 5 players are just as bad as gold 5s. Same goes for silver and bronze.

Only thing that should be left out of this is the fact any diamond player is usually going to be better than a plat player because of how dumb it takes to get to d5 and past it.

D5 is just another plat level why do you think it is so inflated because d4 and up mmr wise is a joke because you win what like 11 lp and lose 28z
